Love’s Oven Cannabis Baklava Cookie Bar Bites Review

By Ruth

I’m loving the edibles that my local dispensary is offering. Recently, I purchased Love’s Oven Baked Baklava Cookie Bar Bite – Sativa. In a world of gummies, cookies and suckers, I love how the cannabis edibles industry is constantly finding new recipes to try more diverse flavors and products. Cannabis Infused baklava is a rarity and a welcomed addition.

buddyboy-baklava-cookie-bar-bites-container.jpgEach 10mg piece is individually wrapped. The dose is approximately 1/2 inch square. It was really exciting to taste a new kind of edible. The baklava was delicious! The textures and flavors were spot on. The spices, the nuts and the layer of philo dough have this edible a multifaceted flavor palate.

In an hour and fifteen minutes I started feeling the effects of a heady, warm fuzzy high. My attitude turned to the positive. The Sativa was energizing and I was moving around, actively doing small chores.

The Baked Baklava Cookie Bar Bites definitely gave me the munchies. Be forewarned! Have healthy snacks aplenty!

After about an hour and a half the buzz started to fade away. Slowly.

I have retested these edibles a couple of more times, because I really enjoy them and wanted to ensure that the strong high provided is consistent. And it was. A great euphoric buzz with the energy of a great Sativa mix. This product has a high standard of ingredients and cannabis processing.

Try it. Be patient for the buzz to take effect. The positive high is exactly what your looking for to make a day a little more wonderful.

I love Ruth for many reasons and now, having her find and recommend these Love-ly treats is just one more reason to love her. I love edibles that are made from Sativa dominant strains and that carry those classic Sativa uplifting, creative, energizing, social effects. Add that to the whole baklava flavor profile and ingredients your grandmother would use, it sounds like a winner.

BuddyBoy Baklava Cookie Bar Bites GroupThe ingredient list is: Flour, Mixed Nuts, Colorado Beet Sugar, Cannabutter, Eggs, Phyllo Dough, Pure Vanilla Extract, Honey, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon & Lemon Juice. I love that they don’t use cane sugar but local sugar. I appreciate the absence of artificial anything even more. I love that they have both a Sativa and an Indica type.

Taste & Effects

The taste starts with the butter and honey flavors, then the nuttiness and spices come through, finishing with a sweet nutty caramel-like flavor that lingers on the tongue.

I also experienced more of a delay of the effects. I was feeling something after the first hour, but it took a full 90 minutes before I felt almost full effects. If I had been impatient and taken more, it would have been too much. Expect these to take a little longer than normal to come to full strength – your patience will be rewarded.

I found my usual dose of 10mg was just the right amount for a strong effect. I could see enjoying a 5mg dose at a time I’d like the same type of effects but not as strong, like going to a party or an evening with friends.

Effects were as expected. I had the energy, uplift and focus I look for in a Sativa edible. An unexpected benefit was also an uplift in mood, a pleasant happy feeling. I was functional enough to go to the hardware store. Like Ruth, I found this gave me some powerful munchies, thanks to the heightened sense of taste. Eating did impact the high, as I would expect, bringing it down a bit. So know that if you’ve had too much, eating can help take off the edge.

Nice and strong, great effects and delicious. What’s not to like? I’ll leave your mouth to water as I end with this sentence from the Love’s Oven website:
“Rich and gooey baklava layered on a sweet cookie crust.”

Taste: Our scale is 1-10, and these are awesome, so 11?

Mountain High Cannabis Caramel Apple Sucker Review

By Alton

The Caramel Apple flavored sucker is just one of many flavors of infused hard candy made by Mountain High Suckers. They are labeled as THC + CBD enriched and contain 8.29 mg THC and 1.53mg of CBD. Mountain High Suckers is a well-established and trusted brand of infused hard candy edibles, made in Colorado since 2009.

As regular More Than Buds readers will know, I prefer it when edibles are labeled as Indica or Sativa, so we know which kinds of effects to expect. The Caramel Apple sucker, like many of their suckers, are not labeled. Mountain High now has a sucker that is not only labeled with a type (Indica or Sativa) but is strain-specific, made with Blue Dream. They also make sugar free suckers, which is a great addition to their offerings.

Mountain High Suckers Carmel Apple lollipop with caramel coating

The Caramel Apple flavor is true to its name, with an almost Jolly Racher-esque apple flavor, complemented by a delicious caramel. By mistake I had kept this one past the expiration date and it was as good as if it were fresh. I always recommend taking edibles before their expiration date, this was just a test for our lab. A nice bonus is that it doesn’t need refrigeration. When eating it, the sucker lasted as long as lollipops not infused with cannabis and had a background taste of THC that remained, with the caramel, as part of the aftertaste.

The effects were felt within an hour, a primarily relaxing body high. At first that lead me to guess that it was made with Indica or a hybrid Indica-dominant strain. Fortunately it was taken in the late afternoon when that relaxing body effect is desired. If I had taken it in the morning I would have felt relaxed but also slightly lethargic and lazy. I experienced some of the Sativa head effects of focus and creativity, so this is likely a hybrid strain

My usual dose of THC in an edible is 10 – 15 mg, and this sucker contains an 8.29mg dose, so the effect was understandably more mild. The effect lasted the usual expected length, about 4 hours of the strongest effect then 2 hours of a more mild effect before it faded out. As expected, eating dinner half way through the effect zone reduced the impact, but it did rebound more than expected after about 45 minutes. The CBD dose was so small that it felt similar to taking a single low dose aspirin, a tiny bit of overall pain relief but nothing significant.

If you are not concerned with the Sativa/Indica labeling of your edibles and are looking for a hybrid impact to both your head and your body, this is a great tasting choice. It lasts a long time without refrigeration, includes a small CBD dose for pain and has good staying power.

ZootDrops Cannabis Infused Concentrate – Lemon Flavored Indica Relaxation Blend “Kick Back”

By Ruth:

I really enjoy Zoots edibles, they are easy to enjoy on the go, they have great flavors and they produce an amazing, uplifting high.

When I visited my local dispensary the budtender quickly showed me another Zoots item in their line of cannabis infused products, Zoots Premium Cannabis Infused Concentrates- Kick Back, lemon flavored in Indica.

ZootDropsThe Lemon Relaxation Blend ZootDrops are sugar free, vegan, gluten free and contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. They contain 100mg THC per bottle and include a child-resistant measuring cap.

The instructions say that one capful (1/2 teaspoon) is a 5 mg dose of THC. You can mix Zoots concentrates with tea, lemonade, soda.

The Indica Concentrate looks like cloudy lemon juice. The cap is similar to the top of a Visine bottle. Very easy to measure dosing. (Rinse off the cap after pouring, I think it would get very sticky.)

I tried it straight, no mixer to get a taste of the product by itself. It had the distinct taste of bottled lemon juice with a strong medicinal flavor. I mixed it in lemonade and was unable to detect any medicinal taste.

Zoots is very potent, so I took a smaller than regular dose. Normally I use between n 40-50 mg of THC. I only used 30mg with Zoots Cannabis Infused Kick Back Concentrate and was highly buzzed very consistently.

ZootDrops Relaxation Kick BackIt can take up to two hours to feel the effects of their concentrates. So be patient. Don’t up your dose because you don’t think it’s working. So, plan accordingly time-wise.

After 70 minutes, I began to have a light buzz. Then my head got dizzy in the most enjoyable way. Even though this is Indica, I didn’t feel lethargic. Like the Zoots nuggets, this was a very up, happy high.

I was slightly sedated and my anxiety was lessened. Stress seemed to disappear. “This is great stuff!”, I kept saying.

The high lasted 2 hours. There weren’t any munchies from this concentrate. When I tried this Concentrate again, I felt the same euphoric buzz. It was calming and uplifting at the same time. The second time I tried Zoots Cannabis Infused Kick Back Concentrate the high lasted a little over 2 hours.

Zoots Premium Cannabis Infused Concentrate is really convenient, just mix with your favorite drink.

I recommend Kick Back from Zoots. The high is euphoric and consistent. The dosing is simple and I have never had a better glass of lemonade!

Halflit & Moonlit Cannabis-infused suckers and lollipops

by Alton

Half Lit is a line of hard candies and lollipops. The lollipop includes a seed in the stick that you can plant to grow cannabis if you are so inclined. All of the products are Organic, Vegan, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Nut-Free, Soy-Free, and Artificial Dye-Free. They do not indicate the type or strain of cannabis used to make the candies.

Half Lit Moonlit box and candy

Flavor

I tried the purple colored Moonlit hard candy. It tasted sweet but with no other particular flavor – I was expecting grape or something to match the color. Instead they taste like sugar water, which is a missed opportunity. Who doesn’t want some delicious flavor with their edible? The package lists the flavors as Watermelon Wonderland, Lit Lemonade, Lunar Lavender, Calming Caramel Açaí, Pineapple Paradise, and Hot Mama Mango. I still have no idea what flavor I had.

Half Lit Open Box

Dosage

As with all new edibles, I like to start with half of my usual does of 10mg. You never know how potent an edible will be. When edibles like these don’t indicate what strain is used or even if the cannabis used was Sativa or Indica, you might be hoping for an uplift and creativity but you get couch-lock or fall asleep. That is why I always prefer to know either the type or strain of cannabis in my edibles. Since it is very difficult to cut hard candies in half, I just waited until about half it had dissolved, then put the rest in a small glass dish. I would recommend doing the same with the lollipop if it’s your first time trying it.

Half Lit Lavendar Lollipop

I had no noticeably different effects than I would expect from a mild edible made with hybrid strains. I experienced no creative uplift or relaxation or euphoria. It was pretty “m’eh”.

While the seed in the stick is a novelty, it isn’t compelling enough to persuade me to buy this edible over others. I may try other flavors as perhaps I just got a flavor that doesn’t come through well. My experience of no great effects and no exciting taste makes this something I can’t really recommend.

Zendo Cannabis Infused Almonds Review

ZENDO EDIBLES Almondsby Alton

I was given a sample size of Zendo Cannabis infused almonds. The small package contained 2 almonds and the package said approximately 3 mg per almond. These almonds were named as the best edible of 2017 by High Times. They are all natural and gluten free. Zendo also makes infused coconut oil and peanut butter.

I prefer it when edibles tell me what strain of cannabis was used to make the edible, or at least what type of cannabis (Indica or Sativa or dominant hybrid). The coconut oil and peanut butter are both labeled as being made with “Hybrid Strains” without saying if those strains are sativa- or indica- dominant or indicating what strains they are using. I could find nothing on their website that indicates what type or strain is used for the almonds.

Taste & Effect

They come in two flavors – Honey Cocoa & Spicy Sea Salt. I had the spicy sea salt and I appreciated the spiciness since I love heat. The almonds had a dark colored coating. Neither the sample packaging nor the website say what the ingredients are, which is not helpful for folks with allergies or who are trying to avoid certain ingredients.

The almonds effected me the same way I would expect a 6mg dose to. My usual dose is 10mg so this had me feeling a mild buzz, with surprisingly strong munchies for such an otherwise mild relaxed feeling. I didn’t find much energy, creativity or uplifted mood from it, just a low level buzz. Fortunately it did not give too much of the effects I expect from Indica strains, like foggy head or couch lock.

Overall I was not very impressed with either the effect or the amount of information given regarding strain used and ingredients. The taste was fine but most people do not choose edibles on taste alone.

Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies

By Ruth:

The last time I visited my local dispensary they had just finished stocking up a bunch of new edibles. It’s amazing to see the all different products. I always ask my friendly budtender for recommendations. Her first suggestion was Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies. I’ve tried their Baklava before and loved it. So, I bought a container of Peanut Butter Brownies as well as another Baklava one and happily drove home.

Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies are individually wrapped pieces in 10mg doses. This is strain specific Sativa. The dose is a small rectangle that is very crumbly. The Brownies had just a hint of peanut butter. I was expecting a stronger, nutty taste. There’s also mild medicinal taste that’s not off-putting.

Loves Oven Peanut Butter BrowniesThey use gluten-free flour, so there is no wheat or gluten in these brownies. They do contain dairy, so not suitable for vegans but ok for ovo-lacto vegetarians (those are vegetarians that consume dairy and eggs).

After one hour, Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies gave me an amazing, upbeat buzz. It’s great to find edibles that provide an euphoric high. The Peanut Butter Brownies provided a consistent, strong, heady high that lasted almost two hours. Throughout the time I felt active and energetic.

Loves Oven Peanut Butter Brownies in PackageLove’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies did give me the munchies. So be prepared, have a healthy snack supply ready!

It so important to ask your budtender’s recommendations and to be open to new edibles! I would definitely purchase more of Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies. The euphoric high is exactly what I look for in edibles.
