Incredibles Microdosed Cannabis Infused Calming Fire Mints Review

From Incredibles, these spicy cinnamon mints with 2mg of THC in each piece are, as the name implies, a low dose edible with calming effects.

Product and Taste

These mints come in a small round plastic container with a screw top lid. They almost fill the container so they are much less over-packaged than other edibles. They were easy to open and should be easy for folks with limited hand strength. It’s the classic “push down and turn” lid and it doesn’t require a lot of strength to get them open, a blessing for folks with arthritis or other similar hand mobility restrictions. They are small round tablets, so they’re very convenient and portable.

There are no allergens listed on the hidden label (you have to peel the label back to read the nutrition information and ingredients). They contain no dairy or other animal products so they are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

These are strongly flavored with cinnamon, almost an Altoids-type strength. They call them Fire Mints for a reason! If you don’t care for cinnamon you would not like these. At my normal dose they even gave me a very small stomach ache from the cinnamon, likely because of what else was in my stomach, but be aware if you are sensitive to cinnamon or have an easily upset stomach.

Dosing

These are a great cannabis edible for folks new to edibles, because you can start with one for a 2mg dose of THC to see how it effects you. If that goes well, next time try 4mg then another time 6mg. See how they work with your system and tolerance. Always start low and go slow.

Like all edibles, I try a smaller dose when I’m not familiar with the product. For these I tried three the first time, for a dose of 6mg, since my usual dose is 10mg. I felt mildly relaxed but nothing much else. The next time I tried four, for a dose of 8mg.

Effects

At 8mg I definitely felt the anti-anxiety and calming effects. I was pleasantly surprised that they were not sleep inducing, as many edibles with relaxing/ Indica-type effects can produce couch lock or sleepiness. Sometimes you want that, but these focus on the calming without making me tired.

For those times you want the calming effects without the heavy body, these are a great low dose cannabis edible. Would love to see these in a higher dose formula for folks who need more than 10 or 20mg of THC. Taking 25 of these for a 50mg dose would not be fun.

GummiCares Cannabis Gummy Sativa:AM Black Cherry Review

GummiCares makes a line of gummies that are Sativa, Indica or CBD specfic. I love that they provide specific types of products, as so many THC and CBD gummies are generic “hybrid” formulas and you don’t know what effect to expect.

GummiCares cannabis infused gummies black cherry flavor sativa:am formula 10mg dose package

GummiCares gummies single-dose pack of 10mg THC Sativa gummies has a single square gummy that is scored into four pieces, making it easy to have a microdose of 2.5mg THC. Most gumies come in 5mg or 10mg dose sizes that you have to guess to split up into smaller doses, so this is a great option if a microdose of 2.5mg is what you want. It’s also easy to take the whole thing if 10mg is your usual dose.

Consistency & Flavor

Unlike other gummies that are soft and supple, I found these gummies to be tough and pretty solid. The texture was like jello with too much gelatin in it – hard and chewy with a rubbery consistency.

Back Cherry is not my favorite flavor and so I did not find the taste very pleasant. The cherry flavor is strong and mostly covers up the cannabis oil flavor, which is a plus if you don’t like the flavor of cannabis oil. I found the black cherry flavor artificial and it lingered in my mouth for a long time as an aftertaste, so I needed to drink something with a strong flavor to get rid of that taste.

The GummiCares ingredients are sugar, corn syrup, water, gelatin, citric acid, canola oil, ascorbic acid, cannabis extract, natural and artificial flavoring, as well as food colorings red 40 and blue 1. So this is not a vegetarian or vegan friendly product and it is not free from artificial flavors and colors.

Effects

As usual when trying a new gummy, always go with half of your normal dose and wait two hours to judge the effects before taking more. After taking a 5mg dose – half of my usual dose of 10mg – and having only mild effects, I knew I could try a whole dose.

I did my standard trial, which is to take the gummy on an empty stomach, then have some caffeine – usually a mocha or coffee – plus something with some fat in it for the cannabis to bind with. This way, if the effects are too strong I know I can take some CBD or eat something to reduce the effects.

I found the effects to be a stoned feeling with some energy and creativity. I didn’t experience the uplift in mood or the happy feeling I get with some Sativa edibles. This did feel like a high quality effect, not muddy or middle of the road like some lower quality edibles can be. There was a mild euphoria mixed in, with something of a spacey head effect. No Indica effects, like couch lock or feeling sleepy. I was able to enjoy getting some things done while listening to music.

The effects lasted about 3 hours and when I ate lunch that definitely had an impact, reducing the effects almost immediately. Within an hour they had worn off and I felt mildly sleepy. I was able to rally and go for a walk.

Overall this is a good mild Sativa edible that delivers the energetic and creative feelings you would expect. I have a tolerance for THC and edibles so I found these GummiCares mild, but someone with a low tolerance or who is new to edibles might find them strong. So as always, start low and go slow. I didn’t enjoy the flavor or the texture, so while I might not get these again, they are worth a try if you are looking for a Sativa edible.

A Cautionary Tale: Asking the Right Questions At The Dispensary

By Ruth

Previously, I have asked for strain specific (Indica/Sativa) marijuana edible products at dispensaries. I SHOULD have also asked how many milligrams (mg) of THC each product contains per dose. I’m used to 5 or 10mg portions of cannabis edibles, then I can take multiples to meet the dose that works best for me of 40mg of THC, a moderate to high amount.

Edibles Heavy Hitters vs. MicrodosesRecently, I dropped the ball and didn’t ask about mg per dose or inspect the container’s label. I was in a Rush with no reading glasses on me. I ended up buying Incredibles Stimulating Ice Mints in microdoses of 2.5mg.

Microdosing works fabulously for folks that a very sensitive to THC. But not everyone. For someone that need a much bigger dose like me, I would have to eat 16 of these Altoid-like Mints to feel any effects.

Later, in an effort to “make it work”, I tried a mint to elevate an existing, waning high. Then I waited. Nothing. So I ate another Incredibles Stimulating Ice Mint. Nothing. They are merely the most expensive breathe mints in Colorado. I would pass on these.

Lesson learned.

1) Bring your reading glasses to the dispensary.

2) Ask your budtender about the strain and dosage of your edible.

3) Read the small print on the packaging before you get home.

(Trust me, you don’t want a container of $20.00 Altoids.)
