Kiva Camino Sparkling Pear CBD Cannabis Gummies Review

As with the rest of the Kiva Camino range of edibles, these gummies are not just infused with distilled THC but are formulated with natural terpenes to create specific effects.

Camino cannabis gummies come in a Social formula with a a Sparkling Pear flavor. The Social formula has 2mg of THC and 6mg of CBD per serving, for a total of 40mg THC and 120mg of CBD per package. As with the rest of the Kiva Camino range of edibles, these gummies are not just infused with distilled THC but are formulated with natural terpenes to create specific effects.

My local dispensary charges $20 for a package, making it $2.00 for each 10mg serving of THC, the same price point as the Kiva Cannabis 100mg Chocolate bars. These gummies do contain gelatin, so they are not vegetarian or vegan friendly. The bag is a standard two-handed pull apart resealable pouch. The gummies are not individually wrapped.

Dosing & Flavor

The smell from the bag is a natural and mild pear smell. Like the other Camino gummies, they have a lovely opaque appearance and a soft texture that is easy to bite through.

The flavor is a mild natural pear flavor that doesn’t have any bad aftertaste. A mild sour note gives these that sparking pear cider flavor.

As we always recommend with new edibles, try half of your usual dose before trying a full dose as you never know how strong something will effect you. The Camino Social gummies are easy to bite in half to give a 1mg THC/ 3mg CBD dose. Since I am experienced with edibles and my usual dose is 10mg of THC, I began with one piece, with 2mg THC and 6mg CBD. After having only light effects for that trial run, I then moved closer to my usual, taking two gummies for a total dose of 4mg THC and 12 mg CBD.

The 2:6 THC to CBD ration is an unusual dose profile and I think it’s a good one. Most edibles with a mix have THC to CBD ratios of 1:1, 4:1, 16:1 or higher. I experience very little effect from anything above a 14:1 CBD to THC ratio. You need a solid amount of THC to get the best out of the CBD effects I have found.

I find I need at least 10mg of CBD to have a noticeable effect. For me, CBD reduces the impact of THC, so if I take a 10mg edible with 10mg of THC and 10mg of CBD, I only get about 80% of the effect of 10mg of THC alone. I also know that THC boosts the effect of CBD, so I greatly prefer some THC with my CBD. With the Social Camino gummies, I found that the 12mg dose was a good one.

Effects

The effects I experienced were pain relief, plus the anti-inflammatory CBD properties. For aching joints, the CBD helps with that while the THC brings the pain reliving effect. I tried these on a bad headache and was pleasantly surprised when the headache was gone within 45 minutes. Same with aches and pains from yard work, I found it effective and long lasting.

Enjoyable flavor profiles and type-specific effects are exactly what I look for in an edible and Kiva’s Camino gummies do a great job on both counts.

Happy Chews Tropical Delight Cannabis Taffy Review

Happy Chews Tropical Delight has 10mg of THC in a taffy like edible.

Whenever I visit a new dispensary I am on the lookout for new edibles to try. I normally pass over single dose products because I take a larger dose. At this new dispensary, the edible selection was tiny, so I bought some Happy Chews plus a couple of old favorites like Cheeba Chews and Wanna Gummies.

Inside the package of Happy Chews are two 5gm pieces for taffy. Although they were differently flavored, the they tasted the same. It was a salty, medicinal flavor, not fruity at all.

After eating the 10mg, I waited. And waited. I waited an hour and a half. The dose was too small for me to see any effects. Perhaps for someone who can use smaller doses, these edibles could be more useful.

So, from what I experienced, they taste odd and had no effects at all, it was kind of disappointing. I wouldn’t buy these again and I wouldn’t recommend them.

Kushy Punch Sativa & Indica Cannabis Gummies Review

Kushy Punch Cannabis Infused Gummies come in Sativa and Indica formulas. I greatly prefer THC edibles that indicate if they are sativa or indica, as I never know what effect I can expect with many generic “hybrid” edibles. Kushy Punch also does make a Hybrid formula, a Recover formula (THC +CBD), a CBD formula and a Private Reserve hybrid gummy.

I love that the Kushy Punch website indicates the type of genetics for each of their formulas:

According to a recent Los Angeles Times article, Kushy Punch are one of the most popular edibles brands in the L.A. area and I was glad to find them in Northern California as well.

These gummies are gluten free, dairy free, fat free, peanut free and kosher. They are not vegan or really vegetarian either, as the gelatin is made from animal products. They are a tiny 3.3 calories per piece. As with all CA edibles, they come in a package of ten doses totaling 100 mg of THC per package. The Sativa and Indica formulas have 0.1mg of CBD per 10mg of THC in each dose. At 3.3 calories per serving, they are a low calorie edible.

Kushy Punch cannabis infused gummies GIF

You have to push in the flaps at the sides of the box to open the inner container, then peel back a foil cover to reveal the 10 gummies. The gummies are in one large piece with sections you have to pull apart. Be careful separating them, as it’s easy to mistakenly rip off more than a single serving size piece.

I found it difficult to figure out what the flavor was. I had to check the box to see that the Sativa is a Strawberry flavor and Indica is Plum flavor. The ingredients are tapioca syrup, cane sugar, water, gelatin, citric acid, natural flavor extract, cannabis oil and coloring. A typical, if not mouth-watering ingredient list common to many gummies. The flavor was pretty generic and I could taste the cannabis oil, though mildly. They tasted fine, if unremarkable. I did have a cannabis oil aftertaste with the Indica formula.

Effects

The front of the box has a graphic that says there is 60 minute activation. With individual metabolisms varying so greatly, I’m not sure how they can back up this claim as being scientifically proven. Even as an individual I have had the same edible hit me significantly sooner or later than usual depending on what else is my system.

The effects are primarily as you would expect, with the Indica formula to be a more body-focused effect with relaxation, anti-anxiety, heightened senses and a light, calm type of euphoria. Sativa is more focused on the head, with creativity, energy and a similar effect of heightened senses.

These THC gummies produce the effects you would expect from Indica or Sativa strains of cannabis. The strength is good, producing a noticeable effect similar to other type-specific edibles. Not the best tasting gummies I’ve had but no offensive taste either. For a low calorie, reliable edible with specific effects, Kushy Punch gummies are a good bet for elevating.

Green Hornet Sativa, Indica & Hybrid Cannabis Gummies Review

From CheebaChew comes Green Hornet, a line of cannabis infused gummies. It’s great that they have a Sativa specific product, so consumers know what types of effect they are likely to experience. Like most adult use edibles they come in a package of 10 pieces, each with 10mg of THC.

I found the package very difficult to open, so if you have limited mobility with your hands, arthritis or just a low boiling point, plan to get the scissors out so you can cut this bag open and store the edibles in a child-proof container that is easier to open.

Flavor – Hated It.

The Sativa gummies are Mixed fruit flavor. I am not a fan of the artificial cherry flavor that is prominent. It reminds me of cherry cough drops or that awful tasting cherry flavor some dentists use to clean your teeth. The other fruit flavors are indistinct to me, a mix of generic citrus, possibly some artificial pineapple flavor, it’s hard to tell. The dominant flavor is the cherry, which I find unappealing. It lingers as an artificial aftertaste even when the gummy dissolves. It does cover up most of the cannabis oil flavor, but I would rather taste the oil than the flavors used in this gummy.

Besides artificial flavors, these gummies contain artificial colors, carnuaba wax, and gelatin. They are free from dairy, gluten and fat, but are not all natural or vegan.

Effects

I definitely felt “stoned” with these edibles, so the strength is there. I didn’t experience most of the usual effects I expect with Sativa edibles – uplifted mood, energy and creativity. I just felt high with no impact on mood, no extra energy and without feeling especially “up”.

I found the effects to be more of a Hybrid type effect than a pure Sativa effect. It was a somewhat dreamy, spacey high. Perfect for just hanging out with friends, watching a movie or taking a bath. I was able to relax and space out. I did not have couch lock or become non functional, so it was not a heavy Indica type effect. I would not want to have to concentrate on anything while using these, I found them too spacey for that. They could be good for creative activities where you just let your mind wander. I’m not sure I would want to cook something where I had to follow a recipe as I felt too spacey for that.

I did have heightened senses and strong food cravings, aka the munchies. Food tasted great and was extra enjoyable to eat. These gummies would be great for anyone who is trying to boost their appetite. Beyond that and the stoned feeling, I did not experience much of any other effects even after repeated tests.

Conclusion

There are so many cannabis infused edible gummies on the market that have a more refined taste and effects I find more desirable, that these won’t make my regular rotation. If you are not put off by an artificial cherry/generic fruit taste and you are looking for a straight up stoned feeling, these gummies may be great for you.

I like the Cheeba Chews brand and like their original product line. I also do like very much that they make these Green Hornet thc gummies with specific Sativa, Indica, Hybrid types. The flavor and the effects are not a good match for me, but if the taste and effects sound good to you, consider giving them a try as they certainly have an impact.

Kiva Camino Uplifting, Chill & Balanced Cannabis Gummies Review

Kiva is well known for their cannabis infused chocolate bars and Terra bites chocolate covered blueberries and espresso beans. Their new Camino range of edibles brings the quality of Kiva to cannabis gummies. These gummies are not just infused with distilled THC but are formulated with natural terpenes to create specific effects.

Camino cannabis gummies come in four formulas, each with a different flavor. The Uplifting formula is a Pineapple Habanero flavor, the Chill formula is a Wild Berry flavor, the Balanced formula is a Blenheim Apricot flavor and the Social is a Sparkling Pear flavor. Uplifting, Balanced and Chill each contain 100mg THC per package, with each serving containing 5mg of THC. The Social formula has 2mg of THC and 6mg of CBD per serving, for a total of 40mg THC and 120mg of CBD per package.

Kiva brand Camino cannabis infused Gummies - four packages one of each flavor

My local dispensary charges $22 for the Uplifting, making it $2.20 for each 10mg serving of THC, the same price point as the Kiva Cannabis Chocolate bars with 100mg of THC. These gummies do contain gelatin, so they are not vegetarian or vegan friendly.

Dosing & Flavor

Being someone who prefers the effects of energy-stimulating Sativa and who enjoys spicy food, I was very happy to see the Pineapple Habanero flavor of the Uplifting formula gummies. The bag is a standard two-handed pull apart resealable pouch.

The smell from the bag is a wonderful natural pineapple smell. Some edibles smell artificial or smell like a bag of weed with some flavoring added. These smell just like pineapple. They have a lovely opaque appearance and a soft texture that is easy to bite through.

As we always recommend with new edibles, try half of your usual dose before trying a full dose as you never know how strong something will effect you. You can always have more but you can’t have less once you’ve eaten it. For those new to edibles, a good rule is to always start first with a very low does, like 2.5mg of THC, then wait two hours to gauge the effects before having a little more. The Camino edibles are easy to bite in half to give a 2.5mg dose. Since I am experienced with edibles and my usual dose is 10mg, I began with 5mg. After having only light effects for that trial run, I then moved to my usual 10mg dose.

I love the taste of the Uplifting gummies. I am usually not a fan of pineapple as too many products use an artificial flavor of pineapple I find unpleasant. The Uplifting Camino gummies have a wonderfully mild, natural pineapple taste. I found it difficult to find any cannabis oil taste. It starts with the sweet and sour fruit taste, then comes the heat from the habanero. I found the heat very mild yet not so mild it is unnoticeable. If you are very sensitive to spicy pepper flavors, just try to little to gauge your comfort. I love the heat level and that it lingers in the mouth for a bit after the gummy has dissolved. Delicious, one of the few edibles that I would buy for the flavor even if there was no THC involved.

Kiva brand Camino cannabis infused Gummies Uplifting formula Pineapple Habanero flavor

Tip: If you find the taste too spicy, have some of your favorite milk at hand – coconut, soy, almond or dairy will do. Milk can help coat the tongue and can help put out the fire from the spiciness. Nut butters, like peanut butter or almond butter also can help tame the flames. Rice, pasta or bread can also help reduce the burn. Water doesn’t help hardly at all, a sugary drink will help more to reduce the spicy feeling.

For the Balanced, the apricot flavor is great, tastes natural and has the same smooth texture and soft mouth feel as the other Camino gummies.

The Chill’s Berry taste is great also, if a somewhat non-specific berry flavor. The taste is not artificial, it’s mild and maintains its good flavor through the aftertaste.

Effects

Uplifting: The effects I experienced were of the uplifting kind – feeling a boost to creativity, a bit of an energy boost and an uplifted mood. I do find the effects more mild than I might like, so I do sometimes boost the effect either with a low dose edible like these 2.5mg/dose gummies or Mary’s Medicinals transdermal pen.

Balanced: The effects for me were not very strong, a mild body high and slightly stoned head. As a budtender told me, they can follow your mood or your activity, as they are able to go both a relaxing and a more uplifting way, depending on the person.

Chill: Just as it implies, the effects of chill are relaxing and anxiety reducing. A budtender told me they are her favorite go-to when they are ready to chill. I am sensitive to strong Indica-type effects as they easily lead me to couch lock or sleep. I found Chill to be relaxing but functional with some mild couch pull and a nice stress relieving impact. Next to the Uplifting, the Chill is my second favorite in term of effect. Perfect for a weekend afternoon or to relax after a busy day.

GummiCares Cannabis Gummy Sativa:AM Black Cherry Review

GummiCares makes a line of gummies that are Sativa, Indica or CBD specfic. I love that they provide specific types of products, as so many THC and CBD gummies are generic “hybrid” formulas and you don’t know what effect to expect.

GummiCares cannabis infused gummies black cherry flavor sativa:am formula 10mg dose package

GummiCares gummies single-dose pack of 10mg THC Sativa gummies has a single square gummy that is scored into four pieces, making it easy to have a microdose of 2.5mg THC. Most gumies come in 5mg or 10mg dose sizes that you have to guess to split up into smaller doses, so this is a great option if a microdose of 2.5mg is what you want. It’s also easy to take the whole thing if 10mg is your usual dose.

Consistency & Flavor

Unlike other gummies that are soft and supple, I found these gummies to be tough and pretty solid. The texture was like jello with too much gelatin in it – hard and chewy with a rubbery consistency.

GummiCares cannabis infused gummies sativa:am black cherry flavor

Back Cherry is not my favorite flavor and so I did not find the taste very pleasant. The cherry flavor is strong and mostly covers up the cannabis oil flavor, which is a plus if you don’t like the flavor of cannabis oil. I found the black cherry flavor artificial and it lingered in my mouth for a long time as an aftertaste, so I needed to drink something with a strong flavor to get rid of that taste.

The GummiCares ingredients are sugar, corn syrup, water, gelatin, citric acid, canola oil, ascorbic acid, cannabis extract, natural and artificial flavoring, as well as food colorings red 40 and blue 1. So this is not a vegetarian or vegan friendly product and it is not free from artificial flavors and colors.

Effects

As usual when trying a new gummy, always go with half of your normal dose and wait two hours to judge the effects before taking more. After taking a 5mg dose – half of my usual dose of 10mg – and having only mild effects, I knew I could try a whole dose.

I did my standard trial, which is to take the gummy on an empty stomach, then have some caffeine – usually a mocha or coffee – plus something with some fat in it for the cannabis to bind with. This way, if the effects are too strong I know I can take some CBD or eat something to reduce the effects.

GummiCares cannabis infused gummies sativa:am black cherry flavor

I found the effects to be a stoned feeling with some energy and creativity. I didn’t experience the uplift in mood or the happy feeling I get with some Sativa edibles. This did feel like a high quality effect, not muddy or middle of the road like some lower quality edibles can be. There was a mild euphoria mixed in, with something of a spacey head effect. No Indica effects, like couch lock or feeling sleepy. I was able to enjoy getting some things done while listening to music.

The effects lasted about 3 hours and when I ate lunch that definitely had an impact, reducing the effects almost immediately. Within an hour they had worn off and I felt mildly sleepy. I was able to rally and go for a walk.

Overall this is a good mild Sativa edible that delivers the energetic and creative feelings you would expect. I have a tolerance for THC and edibles so I found these GummiCares mild, but someone with a low tolerance or who is new to edibles might find them strong. So as always, start low and go slow. I didn’t enjoy the flavor or the texture, so while I might not get these again, they are worth a try if you are looking for a Sativa edible.
