Korova Cannabis Sativa Toffee Mini Cookies Review

I have enjoyed the Korova line of mini cookies (see the ginger chew review here) and I wished that Korova had a Sativa-specific edible. Wishes can come true and mine did with the Korova Sativa Toffee Mini Cookies! Each cookie has 10mg of THC and they come 10 to a resealable bag.

Korova Sativa Toffee cannabis infused mini cookies 100 milligram bag of ten cookies each with 10mg of THC

Like the other Korova mini cookies, these use only real ingredients that you would use in making your own cookies, plus Sativa cannabis distillate. The cookies are soft and delicious with a nice toffee/caramel sweetness.

As always I started with 5mg, which is half of my usual dose in edibles of 10mg of THC. I felt very mild effects after two hours. That let me know I could safely try my usual dose without having too strong an effect.

The first full dose trial I had mine with some caffeine and a little fat for the THC to bond to when digested. The effects came on within 90 minutes and came to their full impact around the 2 hour mark. the same pattern was repeated when I tried them again with different foods and times of day. They were a little mild to break through an afternoon energy slump, but perfect to boost my energy in the morning.

They provide a nice uplift in mood and energy without too much of either. Some potent Sativa edibles can feel like I’ve had 4 cups of coffee, with an over-ramped, hyper feeling. These cookies provided a noticeable but pleasantly mild effect. Heightened senses, a good feeling like mild euphoria that was consistent for 4-5 hours. It made for a lovely relaxed walk on the beach and time for just staring at the waves.

THC edibles like these are perfect for the person new to edibles or to Sativa edibles. They have a noticeable effect without being uncomfortably strong. They provide many of the best effects of Sativa – uplifted mood, increased energy and a creative boost.

I love these Sativa Toffee cookies and I appreciate Korova making type-specific edibles. As they also produce flowers, my next hope is for some strain specific edibles, allowing folks to customize their experience down to a specific strain’s effects.

Big Pete’s Cannabis-Infused Mini Cookies Review

Big Pete’s Cannabis-infused mini cookies are billed as “Cookies That Treat You Right”. They come in CBD, Indica & Sativa types. For some reason the Indica comes with ten (10) cookies, each with 10mg of THC and the Sativa comes with six (6)  cookies, each with 10mg of THC.

Taste

For this review, I tried the Peanut Butter flavor of the Sativa and the Cinnamon & Sugar flavor of the Indica.

Big Petes Sativa Cannabis-Infused Mini Cookies

The Peanut Butter smells and tastes like a typical peanut butter cookie – chewy yet dry – that is packed with cannabis. Same goes for the Indica Cinnamon Sugar mini cookie, a great cookie taste with the cannabis butter taste alongside it. While you can get away with eating these cookies without liquid, some coffee, almond milk, or tea to go with them is a welcome addition.

Taking a whiff from the bag smells like someone put peanut butter cookies into a quarter ounce bag of primo weed. Or that you have a piece of cinnamon toast in your stash, so it can both give you and cure your munchies.

You know these are well infused when the cannabis smell is this pronounced. I think they smell great. I found the thc taste from the cannabis butter was pronounced as well. They are not trying to cover up the taste but let it blend with the flavors of the cookies.

I think Big Pete’s achieves a very good balance between the cannabis and the other flavors, as I don’t mind the subtle, slightly grassy taste of cannabis butter.

Ingredients & Packaging

They do contain butter and eggs so they are not vegan and the nuts are an issue for folks with allergies. I like that most of the ingredients are ones that I use in cooking myself, not a lot of extra chemicals or preservatives. Big Pete’s says they use a slow-cook method to make their cannabutter which gives a full spectrum effect.

Packaging is mercifully easy to open, with a tear strip that exposes a two-hand resealable closure similar to many child-safe pouches. There are helpful graphics on the package to help users get the bag open.

Effects

The effects seem to run true to the type, so I couldn’t be happier. Trying a Sativa cookie after breakfast gave me the focus, uplift and energy to run around and get a lot accomplished by noon. This is just what I want and expect from a Sativa cannabis edible. During my errands there may have been an extra stop to buy a few unnecessary but very pretty things, but those happen even when being elevated isn’t involved.

I had some caffeine at lunch and didn’t eat a lot – although I did have the munchies – so the effects continued even after lunch, a total of about 5 hours worth of effects, although they did start to fade after about 4 hours.

BigPetesGingerIndicaTreats

With the Indica, I tried them in the evening since I am pretty sensitive to Indica effects . Within an hour I found them nicely relaxing but not to the point of couch-lock. I flirted with groggy but was able to maintain a relaxed alertness. After 2 hours, my eyelids did start to feel heavier. Being active became less and less attractive. I could see taking these on a winter weekend afternoon for binge watching TV curled up on the couch. I eventually headed off to dreamland nicely chilled out.

I think Big Pete’s makes some great cannabis edibles. I appreciate that they are Sativa/Indica type specific. I would love it if they would share which strain or strains they use. This is a very good tasting cannabis mini cookie that provides consistent, predictable results. Definitely worth the calories and a wonderful way to elevate.

The first time I tested Big Pete’s Cannabis Infused Cinnamon and Sugar Mini Cookies, the complete body high was so amazing I didn’t feel like writing any review notes. It was a strong, intense buzz that very few edibles can compete with. I loved it. Happily, I tried these cookies again with the serious intention to write a glowing product review.

Big Petes Indica Cinnamon & Sugar Cannabis Infused Mini Cookies

Big Pete’s Cinnamon and Sugar Mini Cookies are Indica strain cannabis infused edibles. Each cookie has 10mg of THC. The cookie itself is approximately a 2 inch circle.I took my regular dose of 40mg or four 10mg cookies. But I warn you, these Indica cookies will get you VERY high. So the first time you try Big Pete’s Cinnamon and Sugar Cookies, I encourage you to take a smaller dose than usual. If you are a beginner, be conservative and try half a cookie.

The Cinnamon and Sugar Mini Cookies have the perfect combination of spices. Big Pete’s got the texture right, crunchy in the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. (I hate dry, crumbly cannabis edibles.) There was a faint medicinal taste, but it doesn’t take away from the traditional flavors of the cookies.

After an hour and fifteen minutes, the buzz started ramping up and got very strong. I became very relaxed and settled down to feel the complete body high.  I was keening aware of my heartbeat in my ears. At some points, it was difficult to get my eyes to focus. I spent 95% of the time chilling in my chair, just hanging out, which is normal for an Indica edible. The buzz lasted for 2 hours. Then slowly decreased little by little until I became clearheaded and sober.

I highly recommend Big Pete’s Cinnamon and Sugar Mini Cookies. I love their strength. You should buy them right away! These are definitely my favorite THC cookies on the market.

Korova Cannabis Infused Ginger Chew Mini Cookies Review

Korova makes ten flavors of mini cookies, including the Ginger Chew flavor I tried. I prefer edibles that either indicate the type of cannabis used (Indica, Sativa or Hybrid) or that indicate the strain name (Sour Diesel, OG Kush, Romulan, etc.). Unfortunately Korova does not indicate either of these on their packaging or their website. This means you take a gamble on the effects you might experience. Most of the cookies simply say “Made with Hybrid Cannabis”. A good reason to start low and go slow, as with all THC edibles.

Korova Ginger Chew Mini Cookies

Most of the cookie flavors come in 100mg packages with 10mg of THC per cookie. Korova  has two a Vanilla Bean flavored mini cookies with CBD. There is a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio, with each cookie having 10mg THC & CBD and a high-CBD mini cookie that has 15mg of CBD per cookie.

Packaging in easy to read and fairly easy to open, with a child proof mechanism similar to how many of the dispensary exit bags work, using a thumb to grab one side while pulling open the other side. The closure is sturdy and easy to re-close. The cookies are loose inside, not individually packaged.

Korova Ginger Chew Mini Cookies package backKorova is right up front about its ingredients – literally. Right on the front they list all 12 ingredients. All of the ingredients are ones you have heard of, with no hard-to-pronounce chemicals, artificial colors or flavors. I also like how the package back comes with the reminder that with edibles you can always eat more but you can never eat less.

Taste

The cookies look, smell and taste great, like a good quality crunchy cookie. For the Ginger Chews, there is a tiny bit of chew but it is mostly a crumbly butter cookie. They have a very nice ginger cookie taste with ginger, brown sugar and butter the predominant flavors. I hardly was able to taste the cannabis, which for folks who don’t like that taste is a big positive. Even the aftertaste was butter cookie, not THC.

I can see why people are fans of Korova, since they produce a good tasting product and keep the ingredients simple.

Effects

Within 30 minutes I started to feel the effects of a mild buzz. It remained on the mild side. It was hard for me to tell from the effects if this was an Indica or Sativa. I felt a little relaxed but not a lot. I did not feel the uplift, energy or focus I normally get from a Sativa edible. These seem to be a balanced mild hybrid with a slight cerebral high and a mild relaxing body high. I tried these several times in the afternoon and they did not give me a strong head high or any significant body effect, just a slight stoned feeling.

If you are sensitive to THC, if you are new to edibles or just prefer a mild effect, these could be a good product for you in terms of effects. I prefer my effects to be more noticeable, to give me a decent strength either in the direction of energy and creativity or in the direction of relaxation or pain relief. I did not find any strong effects with these at my usual dose. These could be perfect for folks who get strong effects from a dose smaller than 10mg or who are looking for a mild buzz.

Great tasting edible using real ingredients with a mild hybrid effect.

Korova 1:1 CBD/THC Cannabis Infused Vanilla Bean Cookies Review

Korova’s line of cannabis infused cookies are some of the best edibles on the market. Their excellent taste, use of real ingredients in their products and consistent potency have all made them a very popular edible treat. The CBD/THC 1:1 Vanilla Bean cookies bring a balanced CBD + THC formula to Korova’s line.

Korova Cannabis Infused mini cookies 1:1 CBD/THC Vanilla Bean flavor bag

Each cookie provides 10mg of CBD and 10mg of THC. Each package contains 10 cookies, each one coming in at 45 calories. Like other Korova cookies, these use simple ingredients like flour, sugar, butter, eggs, baking powder, salt, vanilla bean paste and a few others. No artificial colors or flavors are used. These are made with Hybrid Cannabis extract and contain dairy and gluten.

Taste

Like other of the cookie edibles in the Korova line, they smell and taste great, like a good quality crunchy cookie. It is primarily a crumbly butter cookie with a solid vanilla bean taste. I hardly was able to taste the cannabis extract, which for folks who don’t like that taste is a big positive. Even the aftertaste was butter cookie, not cannabis oil.

People are fans of Korova since they produce a good tasting product with consistent effect and keep the ingredients simple.

Effects

As always with a new edible – even from a familiar brand – it’s important to start with half a usual dose. My usual dose is 10mg of THC, so I started with half of one cookie so I could judge how the 5mg each of THC & CBD in this product reacts with my system. I usually feel very little with a 5mg THC dose and when it is one to one THC to CBD, the CBD usually dampens the THC effect for me. I found the effects of half a dose to be mild enough that I was able to trust trying a full dose without fear of overdosing.

My experience is that taking 10mg of THC by itself or taking 10mg of CBD of itself in an edible is much different than taking a combined 10mg THC & 10mg CBD together. The CBD reduces the impact of the THC for me, so I have much less psychoactive effects. At the same time, the THC actually increases the effects of the CBD. If I have aches and pains and take 10mg of CBD with no THC, I don’t get much relief. If I take something with a good amount of THC – no less than 2.5mg of THC to 10mg of CBD – I get much greater pain relief.

Korova Cannabis Infused mini cookies 1:1 CBD/THC Vanilla Bean flavor bag and cookies

Within 60 minutes I started to feel the effects of a mild buzz and some pain relief. The buzz remained on the mild side. I felt a little relaxed but not a lot. I did not feel the uplift, energy or focus I normally get from a Sativa edible. These seem to have the effects of a balanced mild hybrid with a slight cerebral high and a mild relaxing body high. I tried these several times in the afternoon and they did not give me a strong head high or any significant body effect, just a slight stoned feeling.

The CBD effects were noticeable. My muscle aches were reduced, as was some pain from inflammation related to my budding arthritis. On a cold, damp day when I would usually start to feel aches, it reduced those aches to a low level. With the CBD pain impact and relaxing THC effects, the effects made for a very body-focused experience. It was similar to what you might feel from taking a warm, relaxing bath where your aches were soothed.

Beyond the stoned head and relaxed effects, I felt very little of the THC effects. The CBD effects were more noticeable. If you are okay with the slightly spacey, stoned effect that comes with the THC and boosts the pain management effects of the CBD, these could be a good product for you. I appreciate the relaxation and the pain relief very much for times when that is what I desire. For afternoon or evening use, I don’t mind the spacey, stoned feeling I experience. I likely would not use these in the morning or early afternoon unless it was on a do-nothing day as they reduce my energy and focus too much.

Great tasting cannabis edibles with solid CBD pain impact and a relaxed, mildly stoned THC effect.

Sweet Grass Cannabis Chocolate Chip Cookies Review

I was really excited about reviewing these edibles. I love a good cookie and one with THC included sounded perfect.

Sweet Grass Chocolate Chip Cookies come ten to a container. Each cookies has 10 mg of THC. Also available in a CBD formula.sweetgrass-choc-chip-cookies.jpeg

The cookies are small and each had a gelatin THC sticker to comply with government regulations. They were fresh with no medicinal taste. There weren’t a lot of chips. Sweet Grass cookies tasted like a product from an airport vending machine, ok, but not great. Definitely well paired with milk.

They suggest that you pop them in the microwave for a minute to help with taste and texture.

An hour and a half after eating the Chocolate Chip Cookies I started to feel the buzz. My head felt heavy and I became more lethargic. I just wanted to relax and put my feet up.

Then the high started to fade away and then come back. It was not a consistent stoned feeling.

The high lasted on and off for an hour and a half.

Sweet Grass Chocolate Chip Cookies are a decent marijuana edible. The buzz was good but inconsistent. I will finish the container so as not to waste a THC product, but probably will not buy this product again.

Venice Cookie Company Cannabis-Infused Hippie Cookie Review

Venice Cookie Company’s Cannabis-infused Hippie Cookie are small, thick cookies made with oatmeal, granola and trail mix. They are vegan with no animal products. They do contain wheat, peanuts and tree nuts so they are not allergen- or gluten-free. No organic ingredients indicated on the package, so all the ingredients are conventional. At 27 calories a cookie, they are a low-calorie way to elevate.

There is no indication of which strain is used to make them, or even if they use Sativa or Indica strains, so assume they are made with a hybrid mix of strains, so neither Sativa or Indica.

Hippie Cookies come in a package of 10, each with 10mg of THC. If they are around for while they can become hard and difficult to cut, so if 5mg is more your dose, you may want to cut them in half when they are fresh so you don’t struggle to cut them when they become hard. As always, start with half of a usual dose for you when trying a new edible, as some can surprise you with their strength.

Taste

The oatmeal/peanut butter cookie flavor is natural and there are dried cherries, dark chocolate chips, cashews and almonds that provide the granola/trail mix taste. The overall flavor is pretty peanut butter focused with a finish of trail mix flaors. There is no artificial taste but there is a noticeable cannabis oil taste.

They start out mildly moist and they can go dry easily so it’s best to make sure you reseal the package tightly. The package says to refrigerate after opening to keep them fresh. While you can get away with eating these cookies without liquid, some coffee, almond milk, or tea to go with them is a welcome addition.

Ingredients & Packaging

Packaging is mercifully easy to open, with a tear strip that exposes a resealable closure similar to many child-safe pouches. There are helpful graphics on the package to help users get the bag open.

Effects

The effects seem to run down the expected hybrid middle. You don’t get the focus, uplift and energy to run around and get a lot accomplished you’d get from Sativa, nor do you get a strong body relaxation you would get with an Indica. It’s a mildly stoned mixed feeling between a head and body high.

I didn’t find them especially strong, so if you are sensitive to the effects of edibles or just starting to try them, this type of more mild cannabis edible would be a good fit. I would need to boost one of these 10mg cookies with a 2.5 mg dose of another edible or a transdermal gel to get the impact I get from stronger edibles at a 10mg dose.

Venice Cookie Company makes some good cannabis edibles. I wish they made Sativa/Indica type specific versions, and I would love it if they would share which strain or strains they use. It is great that they offer vegan edibles.

They are coming out with (and discontinuing) products all of the time, so check the website to see what they currently offer
