Korova Cannabis Sativa Toffee Mini Cookies Review

I have enjoyed the Korova line of mini cookies (see the ginger chew review here) and I wished that Korova had a Sativa-specific edible. Wishes can come true and mine did with the Korova Sativa Toffee Mini Cookies! Each cookie has 10mg of THC and they come 10 to a resealable bag.

Korova Sativa Toffee cannabis infused mini cookies 100 milligram bag of ten cookies each with 10mg of THC

Like the other Korova mini cookies, these use only real ingredients that you would use in making your own cookies, plus Sativa cannabis distillate. The cookies are soft and delicious with a nice toffee/caramel sweetness.

As always I started with 5mg, which is half of my usual dose in edibles of 10mg of THC. I felt very mild effects after two hours. That let me know I could safely try my usual dose without having too strong an effect.

The first full dose trial I had mine with some caffeine and a little fat for the THC to bond to when digested. The effects came on within 90 minutes and came to their full impact around the 2 hour mark. the same pattern was repeated when I tried them again with different foods and times of day. They were a little mild to break through an afternoon energy slump, but perfect to boost my energy in the morning.

They provide a nice uplift in mood and energy without too much of either. Some potent Sativa edibles can feel like I’ve had 4 cups of coffee, with an over-ramped, hyper feeling. These cookies provided a noticeable but pleasantly mild effect. Heightened senses, a good feeling like mild euphoria that was consistent for 4-5 hours. It made for a lovely relaxed walk on the beach and time for just staring at the waves.

THC edibles like these are perfect for the person new to edibles or to Sativa edibles. They have a noticeable effect without being uncomfortably strong. They provide many of the best effects of Sativa – uplifted mood, increased energy and a creative boost.

I love these Sativa Toffee cookies and I appreciate Korova making type-specific edibles. As they also produce flowers, my next hope is for some strain specific edibles, allowing folks to customize their experience down to a specific strain’s effects.

Sensi Chew Energy Cannabis Chocolate Caramel Review

Before adult recreational use of cannabis was legal in California, as a medical marijuana user, SensiChew was one of my favorite edibles. Especially their Energy product, which had a good 50mg dose of caffeine that boosted the positive effects of the THC. Now with new state regulations, they have adjusted the formulas. Thankfully the great taste and powerful effects remain in the new formulas.

Formula

Sensi Chew come in various formulas for specific effects. Sativa for daytime, Indica for nighttime/insomnia and hybrid for anytime. There are also specific CBD formulas for pain and an aphrodisiac formula for “amoré”.

Sensi Chew newer formula of their Energy product is labeled as anti-fatigue and has 40mg of natural Ginseng per dose. The website says “Sensi Chew Energy 100 mg is for patients with pain, who want to medicate and be alert, and have a THC tolerance.” I agree, these edibles are not appropriate for people who are new to edibles who may have little thc tolerance. I have a lot of experience and a healthy tolerance yet I still find these strong.

Sensi Chews are made with natural ingredients that you would use to make caramel at home. There are not lots of chemicals or ingredients you’ve never heard of. They do contain butter, so they are not suitable for vegans.

Sensi Chew Multiple

Taste & Dosing

All of the Sensi Chews have a smooth chocolatey-caramel flavor that reminds one of the tootsie-roll candies. There is not a strong cannabis flavor as it is well balanced with the chocolate and caramel flavors.  I wondered if the ginseng would alter the flavor, but I didn’t taste any other flavors. They recommend letting a piece dissolve sublingually – under the tongue – for faster onset.

Sensichew Cannabis Infused chocolate caramel ENERGY bar 100mg of thc and 40mg of ginseng per dose

The full 100mg bar comes scored to make it pretty easy to break into 10 pieces of 10mg each. It is caramel, so it is a bit stretchy and sticky. Putting this in the fridge or freezer for a little while before cutting it makes for cleaner cuts. It also makes it harder to cut than when at room temperature, so always take care and cut safely.

As always if you are new to a cannabis edible, only take half of your usual dose the first time. I am a seasoned edible user and I find these strong, so it is easy to over do it with these. Proceed with caution. If you have never tried edibles and are starting with these, first cut off one piece (10mg), then cut that 10mg piece into four pieces so you have four 2.5mg pieces. Start with one of those small pieces and wait two hours to notice the effects. You can always take more but you can’t take less.

My usual dose is 10mg and I took 5 mg first. I definitely noticed the effects and they were mild enough that I went up to 7.5mg another time and then another day went up to 10mg. My usual dose is plenty for these edibles. Again, start low and slow with these as they are potent.

Effects

The effects are what you would expect from a Sativa-dominant hybrid. There is an energy boost, likely supported by the ginseng, that is pronounced without being overbearing. These are very strong, so I could see how taking more than my usual dose could give an over-revved, too hyper feeling.

I did let it dissolve under my tongue and felt the energy boost first, about 45 mins after taking it, with the full effects coming on around 90 minutes after ingestion. As with most edibles, your body chemistry and the contents of your stomach will impact the effects. Having a cup of coffee and a little bit of fat like an avocado half with the edible will usually create a much stronger effect than if you ate a big breakfast with no caffeine and then took the edible.

I really enjoy the effects of these edibles, a clear head, focus, energy and some pain relief body effects as well. I am very sensitive to Indica-type effects of cannabis such as relaxation or tiredness. I did notice with these, since they are made for pain relief, that after a couple of hours it does become more of a body-focused relaxed high as the energy effects fade.

Garden Society Sativa Cannabis-Infused Dark Chocolates Review

Garden Society’s Sativa cannabis-infused dark chocolates are vegan and gluten-free. They are infused with a Sativa strain of cannabis from the famous Mendocino County, California area. As one of the few vegan options in chocolate cannabis edibles, they are a welcome addition for folks who are eating in a more animal-friendly way. The product tag line is “Sativa for a Brighter Day” and they deliver.

My local dispensaries charges around $26 for a 100mg package, making it $2.60 for each 10mg serving of THC. An individual single-does package is $6.00, so while you may want to buy a few single doses to try them out, financially it makes better sense to buy the 100mg bag.

The bag is a standard two-handed pull apart resealable pouch. The bites are not individually wrapped so to keep them their freshest, make sure the package is properly resealed and kept them refrigerated.

Dosing & Flavor

The smell from the bag is a chocolatey spicy smell. The chocolates are nicely finished with a gold colored logo pattern. The squares are substantial and the insides have a nice medium texture that is soft to bite through. It’s great to let them slowly melt in your mouth, to really savor the chocolate spice flavors.

Flavored with Ceylon cinnamon, cayenne pepper and organic New Mexico chili powder, these chocolates have a nicely mild spice level. As someone who loves spicy foods and has a tolerance for them, I found the spice level mild, but it may be closer to medium for folks who are sensitive to peppery heat.

The flavor is chocolatey and doesn’t have any bad aftertaste or strong cannabis taste. They taste of natural ingredients with no artificial flavor taste.

As we always recommend with new edibles, try half of your usual dose before trying a full dose as you never know how strong something will effect you. The chocolate squares are pretty easy to cut or bite in half to give a 5mg THC dose. Even being experienced with edibles and with a usual dose of 10mg of THC, I always began with a 5mg THC dose since you never know how your body will react with new cannabis edibles. After waiting over two hours and having only light effects for that trial run, on a different day I moved to my usual full dose of 10mg.

Effects

I appreciate edibles that are labeled specifically with Sativa, Indica or Hybrid, as they give me a better idea of what effects to expect. The effects I experienced were what I would expect from a Sativa strain, mostly mental stimulation and less physical impacts. I found these bites provided a mild physical relaxation without hardly any “stoned” feeling.

The effects for me were an energetic effect, mentally stimulating and put me in an elevated mood. That combined well with the mildly relaxed physical impacts to help me get some things done around the house without being too spaced out to accomplish anything. I also didn’t experience the “over-caffeinated” effects I get with some Sativa edibles. It was a nice uplifted feeling with a positive mood boost and motivated energy.

For me, these are perfect for the daytime, or anytime you want some extra energy and mood lift. They could be good for socializing, as I didn’t experience any anxiety or anti-social feelings. They definitely have a good strength level, so I wouldn’t take more than my usual dose. I did find the effects supported creativity, so I could see doing creative work on these edibles, as long as I avoided any activity that doesn’t go well with being impaired – I wouldn’t weld metal or blow glass on these, for example.

An excellent choice if you’re looking for natural ingredients, in a delicious vegan, gluten free cannabis chocolate edible. These chocolate squares satisfy the sweet tooth and provide an pleasantly uplifted experience. A creative elevation experience in a vegan package.

Medicine Box Cannabis Medicine Bar Review

Medicine Box makes strain-specific products including chocolate truffles, tinctures and my favorite, the Medicine Bar. It’s a sweet nutty treat with the energizing effects I like.
Each bar contains 20mg of THC, so since I usually get the best effects from 10mg, I can get two doses out of one bar.

Medicine Box medicine bars

These are a hard, crunchy nut bar, so you do want to be careful if you are cutting them into pieces. Biting one in half isn’t too hard and I wouldn’t try to cut it into more than 4 pieces as it could start to fall apart. If you are new to this edible, do start with cutting it into 4 pieces and try a 5mg dose first. Wait 2 hours to judge the effects then try more if you want a stronger effect.

I love this bar because it not only tastes great, Medicine Bar gives me strain-specific effects from the Sativa strain Sour Diesel. Sour Diesel aka Sour D is used to make the cannabis oil that goes into the bars. Sour D has a very energizing and focusing effect that helps power me through chores, housework or a hike in the woods. Add to that they are  handmade in California’s Sierra Mountains and vegan, it adds up to a winning cannabis edible.

Medicine Box ingredients

For fans of smoky flavors, the Smoked Almond bar has almonds, sunflower seeds and flax seeds. The Curry bar is spiced with classic curry spices, cashews, pistachios and chickpeas. My personal favorite is the Spiced Peanut bar, since I like spicy food, peanuts  and pumpkin seeds.

I have found these to be one of the most energetic of the edibles I have tried. Happy, uplifting and energetic are all appropriate to describe the effects.

Like many edibles producers, they have had to rework their packaging to comply with the new rules for edibles in California. While they are currently dealing with meeting the new packaging and licensing requirements, they are alive and well.

Love’s Oven Peanut Butter Cannabis Brownies Review

The last time I visited my local dispensary they had just finished stocking up a bunch of new edibles. I always ask my friendly budtender for recommendations. Her first suggestion was Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies. I’ve tried their Baklava before and loved it. So, I bought a container of Peanut Butter Brownies as well as another Baklava one and happily drove home.

Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies are individually wrapped pieces in 10mg doses. This is strain specific Sativa. The dose is a small rectangle that is very crumbly. The Brownies had just a hint of peanut butter. I was expecting a stronger, nutty taste. There’s also mild medicinal taste that’s not off-putting.

Loves Oven Peanut Butter Brownies

They use gluten-free flour, so there is no wheat or gluten in these brownies. They do contain dairy, so not suitable for vegans but okay for ovo-lacto vegetarians (vegetarians that consume dairy and eggs).

After one hour, Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies gave me an amazing, upbeat buzz. It’s great to find edibles that provide a euphoric high. The Peanut Butter Brownies provided a consistent, strong, heady high that lasted almost two hours. Throughout the time I felt active and energetic.

Loves Oven Peanut Butter Brownies in Package

Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies did give me the munchies. So be prepared, have a healthy snack supply ready!

It’s so important to ask your budtender’s recommendations and to be open to new edibles! I would definitely purchase more of Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies. The euphoric high is exactly what I look for in cannabis edibles.
