Wally Drops Watermelon Cannabis Infused Hard Candy Review

Wally Drops Cannabis Infused hard candy line of edibles come in eleven different flavor combinations. They all seem to be made with a hybrid mix of cannabis, with no indication of Sativa, Indica or any strain names. These are some of the most Jolly Rancher tasting edibles we’ve tried.

There are some with just THC, some with just CBD and some flavors with THC and CBD. Each candy has 10mg of THC per serving, for a total of 100mg THC per package.

The package is a child proof resealable pouch that can be difficult to open if you have limited hand strength or flexibility.

Dosing & Flavor

The smell from the container is a strong supercharged fruit smell. Wally Drops hard candies are made with sugar, corn syrup, water, coconut oil, and THC. For some reason they don’t mention what is used to flavor the candies, but I’m guessing it is artificial flavor based on the taste. Of the edibles we’ve tried, this is the closest one has come to tasting like the strong flavors of a Jolly Rancher candy.

They don’t contain gelatin or other animal products, so it seems they are vegan friendly which is always a cruelty free plus.

They are gluten free, and dairy free, but they do contain coconut so not totally nut free. The candies are not individually wrapped and need to be cut in half for a 5mg dose or in quarters for a 2.5mg dose. They are hard so it is not easy cutting them in half, use caution. Not easy to bite through either, but they do eventually melt in the mouth.

As we always recommend with new edibles, try half of your usual dose before trying a full dose as you never know how strong something will effect you. As everyone is different, it’s important to try a partial dose first to see how you react to new edibles. Not easy with such a hard candy.

Since I am experienced with edibles and my usual dose is 10mg of THC, I began with half of one piece, with 5mg THC. After having only light effects for that trial run, I then moved closer to my usual dose on another day, taking one whole candy for a total dose of 10mg THC which was fine.

Effects

The effects were along the lines of what you’d expect from a dominant Sativa strain with an uplifting and happy effect. Since hybrid formulas can vary widely, you may get different effects with different batches, which is a drawback. But overall I was very happy with the uplifting effect without any couch lock or heavy body impact.

Emerald Sky 19:1 CBD:THC Gummy Licorice Review

Emerald Sky makes their North Star Cherry cannabis-infused licorice in a formula of 19:1 CBD/THC. Each serving has 9.5mg of CBD and 0.5mg of THC, for a package total of 95mg CBD and 5mg THC. They also make a 10mg Sativa and a 10mg pure CBD gummy.

While they do have a mild licorice taste, this is not licorice in the usual sense of Good & Plenty or Twizzlers. If you don’t like licorice, these likely won’t bother you because cherry, strawberry and red fruit is the much more pronounced flavor.

These CBD gummies are individually packaged, which makes it easy to take one or just a couple with you, rather than taking a whole bag like most gummies. The down side is of course that there is significantly more packaging being used, a concern when it comes to the environment.

North Star Cherry THC and CBD edibles are made with organic and non-gmo sweeteners. They do contain wheat so they are not gluten free but they are vegan and free of animal products.

Dosing

As with all edibles, it is best to start with a low dose of a new product until you know how it will effect you. For someone who is experienced with edibles and whose usual dose of thc is 10mg, the .5mg of thc might not be a concern. Some folks are sensitive to the effects of CBD and may need a smaller dose, so it’s always smart to do a test run with half a dose, wait 2 hours and notice the impact.

I often need more than a 10mg dose of CBD to impact pain or discomfort, it depends on the type of pain. For muscle aches that come from extensive yard work or sleeping in an awkward position, I find I need a higher dose. If the pain comes from inflammation, like arthritis, then around 10mg can help with the pain.

With an Emerald Sky CBD gummy, after testing lower doses I found that for stubborn muscle pain I did need two doses, which provides 20mg of CBD and 1mg THC. Even with the the double dose I did not feel any psychoactive THC effects.

I was glad that with the higher does, I didn’t have any of the Indica-tyoe THC effects you get with some 1:1 THC to CBD ratio edibles. Some edibles with equal amounts of CBD and THC use Indica-dominant strains of cannabis, which can result in relaxing, sleepy or even couch-lock effects. These CBD gummies gave me none of those undesirable effects, just the anti-inflammatory and pain relief effects I wanted.

For a dependable CBD edible in single dose packaging with little to no THC effects, Emerald Sky 19:1 CBD:THC or pure CBD Cannabis Licorice Gummies are a good choice.

JMeds Cannabis Quoobs Lozenges Review

JMeds’ “Quoobs” lozenges are cannabis-infused hard candies made in both a Sativa and an Indica formula. They come 5 lozenges to a package, each labeled with the tested potency per serving. The testing sample we used had a total of 36.5mg of THC in the package. These are potent edibles.

Dosing & Flavor

The dosing label on the package indicates that there are 7.3 mg of THC and .23 mg of CBD per serving. JMeds uses the whole plant extration method, making their cannabis edibles potent. I usually take a 10mg dose of edibles, yet this 7.3 mg dose gave me effects similar to a higher dose. So use these with caution if you are sensitive to thc. Even if you are experienced, know that a smaller dose of JMeds lozenges might be plenty.

Ingredients are primarily natural except for the artificial food coloring. The ingredients list includes cane sugar, cornsyrup, water, cannabis and organic flavor. A bonus for these edibles is that they don’t contain gelatin or any animal products, so they are cruelty free and an option for vegetarians and vegans. At 100 calories per serving they are not low calorie but not crazy high in calories either.

One challenge with hard candies like these is that they are difficult to cut into smaller pieces. If your preferred dose is 5mg, it is hard to break the candy into exactly half. If you decide to try this edible product, be sure you know what effects a 10mg dose of THC has on you. This is not a good choice for people who are new to edibles or trying them for the first time, since you want to start with a lower dose than 10mg until you know your tolerance. Plus these are more potent than other edibles, so as always, start low and go slow.

The flavor is a pretty generic fruit flavor that tastes mildly like strawberry. It does a good job of blending the THC cannabis oil flavor and there is no artificial aftertaste that you get with some artifically flavored edibles.

Effects

I find these to be nicely powerful, giving me a strong but not overpowering high at a dose about 70% of my normal dose. The Sativa formula does have some of the effects I expect from Sativa including focus, concentration, energy and heightened senses.

I was able to function well and get things done, I was not too spacey or dreamy to concentrate. I did not feel an uplift in mood but there was definitely a motivating energy as part of the effects I experienced.

Same with the Indica, the expected effects of a more body centered effect, relaxing and anti-anxiety.

Conclusion

I love the quality of the cannabis in JMeds. I like that I can get the effects I desire from a smaller dose than usual thanks to the way the cannabis is processed. While I am not in love with the flavor, there is nothing that puts me off and I like that there are no artificial flavors used.

These are a great choice for folks who can tolerate potent cannabis-infused edibles. If you are looking for a product that is cruelty-free, dairy free or gluten free, this is a good choice for you. Overall a very good edible product.

Note: JMeds became Canna-Soothe cannabis infused artisanal lozenges, but their website seems to no longer function so they may be out of business.

Dabba Mint Cannabis Chocolate Review

Dabba Mint Choc Front

Dabba Mint Chocolate bars come in Sativa, Indica and Hybrid formulas. According to their website, there is a 100mg version of the Sativa and Indica and a 200mg version of the Hybrid. I had a 200mg version of the Sativa, so either the website is wrong or we got an older product that they don’t make anymore.

This is another product we find very hard to open. While that is good child proofing, it makes it a pain to keep in the original box, so once you get it out the first time, keep it in a sandwich bag or something to avoid using the packaging.

Dabba Mint Choc Back

This is another edible with what could be for some a dangerously high dosing. The entire bar is 200 mg of THC and it says there are 5 servings, which means each piece of chocolate has 40mg of THC. Since the standard dosing we use as a guide is 10mg of THC, this means that someone who is new to edibles could easily overdose by eating one whole piece. We strongly recommend cutting up each of the five servings into four pieces, so that you have pieces with 10mg each to use.

The chocolate flavor is average, somewhere around a Hershey bar flavor, but with a strong mint flavor. If you don’t like mint this is not the bar for you, as the mint flavor lingers a long time after the chocolate dissolves. I like mint so I don’t find it unpleasant or too strong of a mint flavor. Also the mint flavor helps mask any “mediciny” flavor that some edibles with high THC content have.

Dabba Mint Choc Front bar

After breaking one of the five serving pieces into four, I took one piece or approximately 10mg. I took mine in the late mid afternoon, on a mostly empty stomach and with some caffeine. Within an hour I was experiencing all of the effects I would expect from a strong Sativa edible – energy and focus, a slight reduction in coordination and heightened senses. I didn’t feel any of the heavy head, couch lock or body relaxing effects I can experience with hybrid or Indica edibles. For my usual 10mg dose, I found the effects very strong, equal or greater than my go-to Sativa edible On The Rise.

I found them good for micro-dosing, where taking one-third of a small piece, equal to around 3mg, gave a similar effect to having a cup of coffee – a slight lift in energy and focus but nothing too strong.

Note: These higher dose bars were available for medical users until the regulations changed around 2019. Dabba now only come in 100mg bars. They still make the mint and they also make a peanut butter banana and a raspberry dark chocolate flavor.

Kin Slips Cannabis Infused Sublingual Strips Review

KinSlips

These “slips” remind me of those Listerine strips that were so popular years ago, that allowed you to use mouth wash on the go by just dissolving the strip in your mouth. In a similar fashion, Kin Slips allow you to discretely pop a strip into your mouth and let it dissolve.

The slips come in three formulas – uplifting with sativa type effects (Cloud Buster), relaxing with indica effects (Nice Dream) and a CBD-rich mixture (Park Life) formula. We appreciate that they indicate the effects they are formulated to produce, as so many edibles give no indication.

Nice Dream Slips Front Face
Nice Dream Slips Back

While the strips are certainly convenient and discreet, they are possibly the worst tasting edible we have ever had. Despite the attempt at flavoring, as these dissolve there is a tiny hint of flavoring but it is overpowered by an unpleasant chalky, medicinal taste. Even the flavoring tastes artificial. Even with drinking something to mask the taste, when using these before bed it is not unusual to still have the nasty aftertaste in your mouth the next morning.

Nice Dream Slips Unboxed

We find them quite strong, part of which is likely related to taking them under the tongue. For using the Nice Dream to help fall asleep and stay asleep, often half of one is enough to feel the effects. Nice Dream is on our short list when we need help with sleep.

KinSlips have a good strength, are convenient, discreet and specially formulated to produce specific effects, all of which which are big pluses. The taste is a big drawback for us, since there are so many other better tasting cannabis edibles available

Level ProTab Sativa Cannabis Tablets Review

Level ProTab Sativa tablets are strain-specific cannabis in pill form. Each of the different Level products is formulated for specific effects. Because they are strain-specific, you can have a good idea of what types of effects you are likely to experience. Level’s seven products and the six strains behind them are:

Sativa:

SPARK is Jack Herer
CONNECT is Sour Diesel

Hybrid:
ELEVATE is Blue Dream

Indica:
FLOAT is Sour Red Hindu Kush in the cartridge and UK Cheese in the Pod
DISSOLVE is a proprietary blend of terpenes

CBD:
REMEDY 1:1 is Sour Dream
REMEDY 3:1 is Blue Dream

Dosing

Approach these Level ProTabs with caution, these are for experienced users only because they are so strong.

Instead of the usual 10mg per piece with edibles, Level ProTab pills each have 25mg of thc. The tablets are scored to make it easier to cut them in half. Even then you would have a 12.5mg dose, which is quite high for some people. A person who does not have much experience with edibles who took one of these pills would likely not have a good experience.

LEVEL PROTABS SATIVA Cannabis THC ProTabs

I am a very experienced user and 10 mg is my usual dose. I never try a new cannabis edible or drinkable at my full dose. I always try a 5mg portion and wait two hours, to gauge the effects. I have a pill cutter so I was able to cut the Protabs in half, to start with a 6.25mg dose, the closest I could come with these pills to my usual test dose. I experienced some mild effects, similar to what I would expect from a 5mg dose of a mild edible.

The effects from the test dose were some increased focus without much increase in energy. I noticed my senses were slightly heightened. I didn’t notice much in the way of physical effects, apart from a slight tensing of the jaw and neck that I often experience as part of the effect of some Sativa edibles, similar to other stimulants like a caffeine buzz. The effects wore off after about 4 hours. From the test dose I had some idea of the effects to expect and I was comfortable with increasing the dose the next time.

For the next test I did one half of the Protab, so approximately a 12.5mg dose. I headed out for a walk on the beach with the dog. I had some caffeine and took water with me to stay hydrated. It took longer than most edibles I’ve tried for the effects to kick in, even though I was active, close to the 2 hour mark. Be aware that these tablets make take longer for you to feel the impact, so wait a full two hours before taking more.

I didn’t feel the energy boost or the uplift in mood I enjoy with other Sativa edibles. I felt the focus and the alertness pretty strongly. It was the opposite of groggy. At one point I was able to concentrate hard enough that I could see through time. Or so it seemed.

One enjoyable effect of the larger dose was the super-senses. The colors were amazing and watching the ocean waves sparkle in the sunlight was very beautiful. Tastes and smells were also heightened, so the smell of the ocean and the the taste of water were even sweeter than usual.

The effects lasted almost a full 6 hours, although they did fade a bit after I ate lunch.

If you need to concentrate for an extended period or have trouble focusing, this might be a good choice for you. I love the impact these have on the senses and I missed the emotional uplift and more euphoric-type feelings I get from other edibles.

I’ve had mixed experience with tablets. I don’t know if it is the processing or the formulation, but they effect me differently than cannabis infused food or beverages. Be aware that cannabis has the ability to produce opposite (or bidirectional) effects in different people, with different strains, and at different dosages, so always start slow.

Another perspective:

I was super excited to try Level ProTab Sativa tablets. I usually take a larger dose of THC (between 40-50 mgs) so pills that have 25 mg per dose are perfect for me.

I took 50 mgs and waited to experience the effects. After an hour an fifteen minutes I started to feel a tingly, body high. My anxiety dropped slightly and I felt calm with a small buzz. I waited for the high to heighten. But, the tingly feeling was it. I didn’t get ‘stoned’ merely a body high and a sense of relaxation. Which is great, but surprising for a Sativa strain product. After two hours the body high disappeared without notice. However, I was calm and relaxed the rest of the evening.

I love that Level ProTab Sativa tablets are higher dosages of THC. But, it was strange for a Sativa strain to be calming. (Makes me wonder if their Indica is super relaxing or is going to get me moving quickly.)

I give Level ProTab Sativa tablets a mixed review. It’s more like an Indica in its calming effects. I haven’t taken 50 mg of a Sativa edible and felt anxieties lessen. More often Sativa hypes me up. The dosage is great. But, I was expecting more than the slight body high.

If you are looking for a very strong, medical level thc product, these high dose pills are worth a try.
