Emerald Sky 19:1 CBD:THC Gummy Licorice Review

Emerald Sky makes their North Star Cherry cannabis-infused licorice in a formula of 19:1 CBD/THC. Each serving has 9.5mg of CBD and 0.5mg of THC, for a package total of 95mg CBD and 5mg THC. They also make a 10mg Sativa and a 10mg pure CBD gummy.

While they do have a mild licorice taste, this is not licorice in the usual sense of Good & Plenty or Twizzlers. If you don’t like licorice, these likely won’t bother you because cherry, strawberry and red fruit is the much more pronounced flavor.

These CBD gummies are individually packaged, which makes it easy to take one or just a couple with you, rather than taking a whole bag like most gummies. The down side is of course that there is significantly more packaging being used, a concern when it comes to the environment.

North Star Cherry THC and CBD edibles are made with organic and non-gmo sweeteners. They do contain wheat so they are not gluten free but they are vegan and free of animal products.

Dosing

As with all edibles, it is best to start with a low dose of a new product until you know how it will effect you. For someone who is experienced with edibles and whose usual dose of thc is 10mg, the .5mg of thc might not be a concern. Some folks are sensitive to the effects of CBD and may need a smaller dose, so it’s always smart to do a test run with half a dose, wait 2 hours and notice the impact.

I often need more than a 10mg dose of CBD to impact pain or discomfort, it depends on the type of pain. For muscle aches that come from extensive yard work or sleeping in an awkward position, I find I need a higher dose. If the pain comes from inflammation, like arthritis, then around 10mg can help with the pain.

With an Emerald Sky CBD gummy, after testing lower doses I found that for stubborn muscle pain I did need two doses, which provides 20mg of CBD and 1mg THC. Even with the the double dose I did not feel any psychoactive THC effects.

I was glad that with the higher does, I didn’t have any of the Indica-tyoe THC effects you get with some 1:1 THC to CBD ratio edibles. Some edibles with equal amounts of CBD and THC use Indica-dominant strains of cannabis, which can result in relaxing, sleepy or even couch-lock effects. These CBD gummies gave me none of those undesirable effects, just the anti-inflammatory and pain relief effects I wanted.

For a dependable CBD edible in single dose packaging with little to no THC effects, Emerald Sky 19:1 CBD:THC or pure CBD Cannabis Licorice Gummies are a good choice.

Kanha 4:1 CBD:THC Cannabis Infused Peach Gummies Review

Kanha cannabis infused CBD & THC gummies contain a 4:1 ratio of CBD to THC. Each piece has 10mg CBD and 2.5mg THC. There are 10 pieces for a package total of 100mg CBD / 25mg THC.

These gummies are made with gelatin, so they are not vegetarian or vegan friendly. They are gluten-free and contain no food allergens like dairy, nuts or soy. Each piece has 23 calories so the whole bag only sets you back 230 calories.

Kanha Cannabis Infused 4:1 CBD THC Peach gummies

Taste & Effects

The smell from the package is a sweet peach smell. Each gummy is covered in a fine sugar coating that provides an initial sweet taste. Once that disappears, there is a semi artificial peach taste, similar to a hard candy like Jolly Rancher, mixed in with a slight cannabis oil taste. Like other Kanha gummies I’ve tried, they are somewhat artificial tasting but perfectly edible. I don’t like artificial flavors, but these have a soft flavor, taste perfectly fine and are similar to other peach gummy candies.

Kanha gummies are robust, taking a good five minutes to dissolve in the mouth. As with all new edibles, I took half of my usual dose the first time to judge how strong they are. My usual dose is 10mg of THC and up to 20mg of CBD, so I started with one half of a gummy, with 10mg CBD & 2.5mg THC. I took it first one evening at home. Within an hour I could feel the CBD start to have an effect, with aches and pains lessened plus a relaxed feeling in the muscles. I was pleasantly surprised at the impact of half of my usual dose of CBD. The extra THC really helped boost the CBD effect for me.

With 2.5mg of THC, I did not experience any of the psychoactive effects from taking higher dose THC edibles. When I take an edible with 5mg of THC, I usually get some mild psychoactive THC effects. I found the Kanha gummies to have little of those effects. In my experience, CBD lessens the impact of THC, so that I get a stronger effect from 10mg of just THC than I do when there is 10mg of THC and 10mg of CBD in a gummy. At the same time, the THC boosts the effectiveness of CBD for me.

THC does work together with CBD, so I like the ratio of CBD to THC in this gummy because it helps activate the CBD. I find these work better than products that only contain CBD. If you are looking for a CBD gummy edible with a four-to-one ratio of CBD to THC, this edible is a good choice. Many products contain only CBD and no THC, which I find much less effective.

The package suggests taking between 1 and 3 doses. Since 3 doses would have 7.5mg of THC, you would have to be careful about psychoactive effects. I usually find 10mg of THC is a good dose, but for many folks 5mg gives them the effects they want. With CBD reducing the impact of the THC effects, I can sometimes take a higher than usual amount without undesirable side effects. Always start low and go slow with edibles and judge the impact for yourself, as we all react a little differently.

Wrap Up

For a healthy dose of pain relief, Kanha 4:1 CBD:THC Peach gummies are a good choice. While I find the flavor just okay, it is not enough to prevent me from enjoying the powerful effects. Overall a good choice if you are looking for support with pain plus the anti-inflammatory and other effects of a 4:1 CBD:THC gummy edible.

Kanha Cannabis 20:1 CBD:THC Watermelon Gummies Review

Kanha cannabis infused watermelon CBD gummies contain a 20:1 ration of CBD to THC. Each piece has 9.5mg CBD and 0.5mg THC. There are 10 pieces making the package total 5mg THC and 95mg CBD.

These gummies are made with gelatin, so not vegetarian or vegan friendly, but they are gluten-free. They contain no food allergens like dairy, nuts or soy. Each piece has 23 calories so the whole bag only sets you back 230 calories.

kanha brand cbd watermleon gummies with 95mg of cbd and 5mg of THC

Taste & Effects

The smell from the package is a very sour, citric acid smell that is so strong I struggled to find the watermelon smell. Each gummy is covered in a fine sugar coating that provides an initial sweet taste. Once that disappears, there is a medicinal and artificial taste I can’t put my finger on mixed in with the cannabis oil taste. That taste lasts for quite a while, transitioning to more of a fake cherry taste than a watermelon taste, I found. Not the most pleasant tasting cbd gummy I have had, but not the worst by a long shot.

The gummy was robust, taking a good five minutes to dissolve in the mouth. Normally that would be a good thing, but with the odd sour citric acid plus the cherry taste, it is not as delicious as I would like it to be. I am willing to overlook a less-than-wonderful taste when the edible delivers the effects I like and this is a good example.I took this one evening after coming home with some minor aches and pains to see how one does would impact my muscle soreness. I have had good results with CBD in the past for muscle aches, and I found these to be nicely effective.

With only 0.5mg of THC, I did not experience any of the effects from taking edibles that are higher in THC. Even when I take an edible with 5mg of THC, which is half my usual dose, I usually get some of the psychoactive THC effects. I found the Kanha gummies to have none of those effects. THC does work together with CBD, so I like that this cbd gummy product has a small amount of THC because it helps activate the CBD. I find these work better than products that only contain CBD. If you are looking for a cbd gummy edible with a good dose of CBD and and a small amount of THC to boost the CBD effects, this edible is a good choice.

I felt pain relief within an hour, my muscle soreness retreating into the background and making me much more comfortable. This is the kind of pain relief I look for in a CBD gummy product. Many products contain only CBD and no THC, which I find much less effective. Another time after a few hours of hard work in the yard my back and legs were aching, so I tried taking one gummy. The pain was more pronounced than other times and one gummy wasn’t enough to make a dent. After 90 minutes with no impact, I took half of a second gummy. After another hour, there was a noticeable effect, reducing my pain and letting me relax in comfort.

The package suggests taking between 1 and 3 doses. Since even 3 doses would have only 1.5mg of THC, you would have to be very sensitive to THC to feel any psychoactive effects. I can’t tell any difference between 2mg and 4mg of THC and rarely feel anything until I’m in the 5-7mg range, depending on the strength of the product, but everyone is different.

Wrap Up

For a healthy dose of pain relief that includes a little THC to boost the effects, Kanha CBD gummies are a good choice. I don’t like the flavor very much, so I think there is room for improvement there, but overall a good choice if you are looking for the anti-inflammatory and other effects of a CBD gummy edible.

Sensi Chew Insomnia Cannabis THC & CBD Chocolate Caramels Review

sensi chew cannabis infused chocolate caramels insomnia formula with melatonin

Taste & Ingredients

Like the other Sensi Chew products, this edible is a chocolate caramel confection that does a good job of hiding the THC taste. If you are not a fan of the taste of cannabis oil, this is good product for you to try, as the taste is on the mild side. There is an “Insomnia Plus” product that has no THC, just CBD and it has almost no cannabis taste. This edible is usually described as having a “tootsie-roll” type flavor and Sensi Chews have a similar consistency as those treats.

I like that Sensi Chew has a short ingredient list and that the ingredients are something your grandmother might use in making treats (except maybe the cannabis extract, depending on your grandmother). They are not full of chemicals and fillers. They do contain dairy so they are not an option for those who avoid dairy, be it for allergy, by choice, because of being a vegan and cruelty-free or any other reason.

Effects & Dosing

Usually within 30-45 minutes of taking one of these I begin to feel sleepy. I am sensitive to melatonin and each dose has 2mg of it per dose along with either 10mg of THC or CBD. Once the effects begin to set in, I am able to get ready for bed and I last about another 30 minutes before my eyes are too heavy to keep open. I would not take more than my usual does of one 10mg THC piece as I find the effects are strong enough.

Sometimes I do experience something of a groggy feeling in the morning, which I don’t like. I experience that with several other types of sleep aids, so I think it is the melatonin. I prefer to wake up refreshed and not groggy. I am fortunate that insomnia is only an occasional issue so I don’t usual use a sleep aid. Folks who are more tolerant of melatonin, might not have the grogginess. I don’t have it every time, but close to half the time when I use products like this.

Wrap Up

If you have problems getting to sleep or staying asleep, I would recommend giving Sensi Chew Insomnia or Insomnia Plus formulas a try. these might not be your best choice if you are sensitive to melatonin. If you find you experience the grogginess, experiment with half or a quarter of a 10mg dose, to see if that reduces the impact.

Treometry Golden Mylk Chocolate THC CBD Bar Review

Treometry’s Golden Mylk is a Tumeric Chai Cannabis White Chocolate Bar with Ashwaghanda Extract. While I was not familiar with Ashwaghanda before, this is now one of my favorite edibles to help go to sleep and stay asleep.

Golden Mylk front

Flavor

With several competing spices, this edible struggles to find a balance among all of the flavors. The equally strong spice tastes from the tumeric, chai spices, pepper, ginger, etc. can leave the tongue a bit confused. The white chocolate flavor is very mild providing a smooth, chocolaty flavor overall. There is a slight aftertaste which is likely from the cannabis oil or the Ashwaghanda extract being in alcohol. This is a vegan chocolate, so it is missing the traditional milky, creamy chai flavor, as nothing in it replaces that taste or texture. The taste is very pleasant overall, creating a smooth spicy experience. It’s unusual to find a good tasting chocolate treat that is dairy-free, paleo friendly and gluten-free.

Dosage & Strain

The packaged portion is labeled as containing 10mg of THC and 10mg of CBD. It is scored into four squares that are easily broken into pieces of 2.5 mg for portion control – always a plus with an edible! It does not indicate if the THC is sativa, indica or some hybrid, which is a drawback. Since it does a great job promoting relaxation and sleep, it’s a good bet that it is an Indica or Indica-dominant hybrid strain.

Golden Mylk Unboxed

Ashwaghanda – what is that?

According to Examine.com and its references to 300+ scientific papers:

“Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an herb used in Ayurveda medicine. Ashwagandha means ‘Smell of Horse,’ which refers to the fresh root’s distinct horsey smell, and the traditional belief that ingesting the herb will confer the strength and virility of a horse.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen. It is supplemented primarily for its ability to prevent anxiety. Ashwagandha’s anti-anxiety effect is even synergistic with alcohol. It also shows promise for relieving insomnia and stress-induced depression.”

Despite this description, I have never tasted or smelled anything even remotely like a “horsey” smell, because this edibles uses an extract not the fresh root. I have experienced and enjoyed the anti-anxiety, relaxing effect it provides.

Golden Mylk back

Effects & Dosing

Given its anti-anxiety and insomnia relief properties, this edible is often suggested for use in helping with getting and staying asleep. Over repeated uses, I have found that it provides these effects consistently.

In my experiments I did as I always do with a new cannabis edible, I started with a small dose. I started with just one of the four pieces to gauge the effect. While it is considered a mild does at only 2.5mg THC & CBD, it did help with stress relief and relaxing. I have tried two pieces, which is half of the bar and contains 5mg THC & CBD. I experienced more pronounced anxiety relief and relaxation effects within the first forty minutes. By the end of the first hour I was nicely relaxed and ready for bed.

I have tried it several times and the effects are consistent using the 5mg dose. Either I sleep through the night or if I get up I am able to get back to sleep. I sometimes experienced a slight grogginess in the mornings, but it quickly dissipates. I went back to the 2.5mg dose for regular use, since the Ashwagandha seems to add enough extra kick to do the trick for me.

If you are just trying this for the first time, it’s likely best to only take one-fourth of the bar, wait at least one hour and preferably two hours before taking another quarter portion. As always, the effects will differ depending on other medications, your metabolism, how much you eat around the time you take it, etc.

Golden Mylk is on the short list of the products I like the best to help with relaxing, getting a good nights sleep and avoiding insomnia.

Dixie Synergy CBD:THC Balm Review

Dixie’s Synergy Relief Balm is infused with 50mg each of THC and CBD in the 1.7 ounce package. Its focus is on easing deep muscle aches, joint pain, and inflammation. Dixie says is is ideal for joint mobility, muscle relaxation, easing acute muscle and nerve pain.

Dosing

Since it is a balm and not divided into doses, it can be difficult to get the dose right. For example, if my usual dose is 10mg and the package contains 50mg, does that mean I need to use one fifth of the product? It has the consistency of a balm and is in a container you cannot see through, so trying to get the dose right could be a challenge. As with all edibles, tinctures, patches, creams and balms, it is best to start with a small amount.

Try a little on your skin just to see if you notice any effect and to make sure you don’t have an adverse reaction, since some folks have sensitive skin. Like all topicals, since it is absorbed through the skin and not into the bloodstream, it doesn’t produce the psychoactive effects typically associated with THC.

Dixie Balm Synergy ReliefProduct

This product is vegetarian friendly and it contains beeswax, so it may not be suitable for vegans that don’t consume honey or other animal products. It is based in infused olive oil, with other oils such as cocoa butter and castor seed oil. Along with the THC and CBD oil are various essential oils including rosemary, lavender, cedar wood, and pine. The smell is nice and mild, with the fragrances of the lavender, and other oils without any of the camphor or other strong smells in other topicals and transdermals.

While the oils make for good moisturizing, they leave the skin greasy initially. The greasy film gets absorbed eventually but it does linger for quite a while. Don’t put on any delicate fabric like silk on over this balm unless you want grease stains on your clothes. Expect to leave greasy hand prints around too, so be sure to wash your hands after you use the balm.

Effects

I tried the balm on a variety of muscle and nerve pain points. I found it to be effective when used on specific types of pain, such as nerve pain in my feet and muscle pain in my leg. I found it less effective treating joint pain or anything deeper than surface muscle and nerve pain. It’s hard for a topical to penetrate deep into joints from the skin and I didn’t find it effective for that type of pain. While I wasn’t able to dispense the product in any type of consistent dose, I found that using a generous amount was needed to get the desired effects. Just using a little produced no effects for me.

The product can get hard in cold weather, but I found it quite pliable at normal room temperature. I found that 2 or 3 pea-sized portions dug out by my finger was the amount I needed to cover the back of my hand or the top of my foot.

The Synergy Relief balm is a good choice to try if you are looking for a topical rich in natural oils that can address muscle or nerve pain. While it does not work on all types of pain and does come with the greasiness, I found it effective for treating minor aches and pains.
