One of the first edibles I tried years ago were cannabis gummies. They were familiar sounding and I didn’t really know what else to try. That was a while ago. Here I am today reviewing Wana Watermelon Gummies. It feels like old times.
They come in a container of 10 pieces (20 mg each). One gummy works out to cost $2.00. This edible doesn’t say of it is Indica or Sativa and is not strain specific.
I do not like the taste of these gummies. I’ve had Wana’s mixed flavor gummies and the watermelon ones are really the best. It tastes very medicinal, then it gets bitter. I don’t enjoy the taste of these gummies. Its’ okay but just generic with the bitter aftertaste.
Although I took a little more than my usual dose, the high was not too strong. It took about 45 minutes to have any noticeable effects. This was more “up” like a sativa buzz. I was able to accomplish several tasks. Focusing was very easy. The high lasted 3 hours and I didn’t have the munchies.
Twice more I took a 10mg dose, which is my usual dose and felt practically nothing. I tried boosting them with 2.5mg of another gummy but still almost no effect. It was like taking nothing at all, which felt like a waste of money.
The edibles industry is growing with all types of amazing products. Wana Gummies are a safe bet, but I urge you to talk with your favorite budtender and ask for their recommendations and read our reviews for honest feedback.
Between the bad taste and the weak, non-specific effects, I can’t recommend these gummies.
Korova makes ten flavors of mini cookies, including the Ginger Chew flavor I tried. I prefer edibles that either indicate the type of cannabis used (Indica, Sativa or Hybrid) or that indicate the strain name (Sour Diesel, OG Kush, Romulan, etc.). Unfortunately Korova does not indicate either of these on their packaging or their website. This means you take a gamble on the effects you might experience. Most of the cookies simply say “Made with Hybrid Cannabis”. A good reason to start low and go slow, as with all THC edibles.
Most of the cookie flavors come in 100mg packages with 10mg of THC per cookie. Korova has two a Vanilla Bean flavored mini cookies with CBD. There is a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio, with each cookie having 10mg THC & CBD and a high-CBD mini cookie that has 15mg of CBD per cookie.
Packaging is easy to read and fairly easy to open, with a child proof mechanism similar to how many of the dispensary exit bags used to work, using a thumb to grab one side while pulling open the other side. The closure is sturdy and easy to re-close. The cookies are loose inside, not individually packaged.
Korova is right up front about its ingredients – literally. Right on the front they list all 12 ingredients. All of the ingredients are ones you have heard of, with no hard-to-pronounce chemicals, artificial colors or flavors. I also like how the package back comes with the reminder that with edibles you can always eat more but you can never eat less.
Taste
The cookies look, smell and taste great, like a good quality crunchy cookie. For the Ginger Chews, there is a tiny bit of chew but it is mostly a crumbly butter cookie. They have a very nice ginger cookie taste with ginger, brown sugar and butter the predominant flavors. I hardly was able to taste the cannabis, which for folks who don’t like that taste is a big positive. Even the aftertaste was butter cookie, not THC.
I can see why people are fans of Korova, since they produce a good tasting product and keep the ingredients simple.
Effects
Within 30 minutes I started to feel the effects of a mild buzz. It remained on the mild side. It was hard for me to tell from the effects if this was an Indica or Sativa. I felt a little relaxed but not a lot. I did not feel the uplift, energy or focus I normally get from a Sativa edible. These seem to be a balanced mild hybrid with a slight cerebral high and a mild relaxing body high. I tried these several times in the afternoon and they did not give me a strong head high or any significant body effect, just a slight stoned feeling.
If you are sensitive to THC, if you are new to edibles or just prefer a mild effect, these could be a good product for you in terms of effects. I prefer my effects to be more noticeable, to give me a decent strength either in the direction of energy and creativity or in the direction of relaxation or pain relief. I did not find any strong effects with these at my usual dose. These could be perfect for folks who get strong effects from a dose smaller than 10mg or who are looking for a mild buzz.
Great tasting edible using real ingredients with a mild hybrid effect.
The last time I visited my local dispensary they had just finished stocking up a bunch of new edibles. I always ask my friendly budtender for recommendations. Her first suggestion was Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies. I’ve tried their Baklava before and loved it. So, I bought a container of Peanut Butter Brownies as well as another Baklava one and happily drove home.
Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies are individually wrapped pieces in 10mg doses. This is strain specific Sativa. The dose is a small rectangle that is very crumbly. The Brownies had just a hint of peanut butter. I was expecting a stronger, nutty taste. There’s also mild medicinal taste that’s not off-putting.
They use gluten-free flour, so there is no wheat or gluten in these brownies. They do contain dairy, so not suitable for vegans but okay for ovo-lacto vegetarians (vegetarians that consume dairy and eggs).
After one hour, Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies gave me an amazing, upbeat buzz. It’s great to find edibles that provide a euphoric high. The Peanut Butter Brownies provided a consistent, strong, heady high that lasted almost two hours. Throughout the time I felt active and energetic.
Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies did give me the munchies. So be prepared, have a healthy snack supply ready!
It’s so important to ask your budtender’s recommendations and to be open to new edibles! I would definitely purchase more of Love’s Oven Baked Peanut Butter Brownies. The euphoric high is exactly what I look for in cannabis edibles.
The last time I visited my favorite dispensary, my wonderful budtender with the day-glo yellow hair grabbed a Coda Coffee & Doughnuts bar to show me. She pointed out that this company has a former Godiva Chocolatier making their edibles. “It’s amazing.” So I bought it as well as the Coda White Chocolate Cream & Crumble bar as well.
The medicinal-grade bar was expensive. For 300mg of THC I paid $30.00. The bar is divided into ten 30mg pieces. That’s $3.00 per 10 mg. They are also available in 100mg bars.
You can certainly taste the quality of this product. The chocolate is creamy and smooth. The coffee they put in the bar is delicious not bitter at all. Coda used just enough cinnamon so as not to overwhelm the balance. And it’s the light use of cinnamon that remained as an after-taste.
The Coda Coffee & Doughnuts bar is advertised as a breakfast edible. It’s perfect in the morning!
Coda Coffee & Doughnuts Bar 100mg
It takes approximately 50 minutes to feel the effects. It’s a strong, heady buzz. I was able to be productive and keep moving consistently. This wasn’t a jittery feeling, but more of an up high. I had the munchies with this edible, so stock up on healthy snacks for yourself!
The effects lasted over 3 hours. Even though Coda Coffee and Doughnuts bar is not strain specific, it was much more like a Sativa high; heady, productive, energizing. And it’s one of the best tasting edibles on the market!
This edible is unique for its flavor. The chocolate, toasted milk and coffee flavors are well balanced. The coating of cinnamon sugar on the bottom slowly melts in the mouth and gives the same taste as a cinnamon sugar coated doughnut.
Coda Cream & Crumble Bar 100mg
For the Cream and Crumble, a wonderfully smooth lemon flavor combines deliciously with white chocolate. The spiced crumble adds some depth to the flavor and texture to the mix.
The effect feels like a hybrid, with Sativa effects being dominant without an “over-hyped” feeling. I agree with Ruth that these produce a strong buzz, so much so I was concerned I had taken the wrong dosage, but I had not it is just nice and strong. I increased my intake of liquids and ate some carbs to mitigate it feeling too strong. It is a focused, energetic effect, a little spacey but very functional. Fortunately it responds well to eating, so if you feel it is too strong, eat something and the effect will be reduced. About 20 minutes after I had lunch I felt the effects were reduced, but still very present.
I experienced heightened senses, including the munchies since food tasted pretty amazing. Be aware that because of this, anything like mosquito bites, rashes or other skin irritations could be enhanced as well. I had a two bites that needed regular applications of aloe anti-itch to keep them from bothering me.
Something that tastes very good, provides a strong effect and produces the effects I enjoy with few that I don’t, it’s a winning combination. They are expensive, so they will be a treat for me and not something I’d use everyday. Coda bars definitely deserve a place in my medicine cabinet for those days when I want a special treat that is delicious and strong.
Space Gems are gumdrop-style candies made in Humboldt County, California with ice water hash. The box contains 6 candies that each contain 10mg of THC, a total of 60mg for the box.
They are vegan, which is still hard to find in gummy or gum drop edibles, a big plus for everyone who wants to reduce their impact on animals and the planet.
Space Gem Sour Spacedrops
They do not come in Indica or Sativa styles, but they come in Sweet or Sour “Spacedrops”. They are clearly marked with a suggested 10mg serving size of one “drop”, something we always appreciate in our edibles.

Texture and Taste
They do look like little sparkling gems in the box. They have a gummy-like taste and a gumdrop-like texture, with sugar covering a squishy square. The texture is exactly what you would expect with a gum drop. Both taste quite good, the Sour flavor brings an extra sour and the Sweet is not too cloying with a pleasant sweetness.
Effects
Since they are made from hash we assumed there would be a hash-like effect of a heavy head, with a strong pull to the couch and to inaction. I was surprised that the effect seemed pretty well balanced between sativa and indica effects, with the focus and some energy while still relaxed. I never felt “over revved up” or that over-caffeinated feeling you can get with strong sativa edibles. I definitely experienced the heightened senses, including the munchies.
A very good tasting handmade vegan edible, mostly relaxing effects with some focus and a little energy. Enjoy a cruelty-free edible with no animal products!
I have enjoyed the Korova line of mini cookies (see the ginger chew review here) and I wished that Korova had a Sativa-specific edible. Wishes can come true and mine did with the Korova Sativa Toffee Mini Cookies! Each cookie has 10mg of THC and they come 10 to a resealable bag.
Like the other Korova mini cookies, these use only real ingredients that you would use in making your own cookies, plus Sativa cannabis distillate. The cookies are soft and delicious with a nice toffee/caramel sweetness.
As always I started with 5mg, which is half of my usual dose in edibles of 10mg of THC. I felt very mild effects after two hours. That let me know I could safely try my usual dose without having too strong an effect.
The first full dose trial I had mine with some caffeine and a little fat for the THC to bond to when digested. The effects came on within 90 minutes and came to their full impact around the 2 hour mark. the same pattern was repeated when I tried them again with different foods and times of day. They were a little mild to break through an afternoon energy slump, but perfect to boost my energy in the morning.
They provide a nice uplift in mood and energy without too much of either. Some potent Sativa edibles can feel like I’ve had 4 cups of coffee, with an over-ramped, hyper feeling. These cookies provided a noticeable but pleasantly mild effect. Heightened senses, a good feeling like mild euphoria that was consistent for 4-5 hours. It made for a lovely relaxed walk on the beach and time for just staring at the waves.
THC edibles like these are perfect for the person new to edibles or to Sativa edibles. They have a noticeable effect without being uncomfortably strong. They provide many of the best effects of Sativa – uplifted mood, increased energy and a creative boost.
I love these Sativa Toffee cookies and I appreciate Korova making type-specific edibles. As they also produce flowers, my next hope is for some strain specific edibles, allowing folks to customize their experience down to a specific strain’s effects.
