Green Hornet Sativa, Indica & Hybrid Cannabis Gummies Review

From CheebaChew comes Green Hornet, a line of cannabis infused gummies. It’s great that they have a Sativa specific product, so consumers know what types of effect they are likely to experience. Like most adult-use edibles they come in a package of 10 pieces, each with 10mg of THC.

I found the package very difficult to open, so if you have limited mobility with your hands, arthritis or just a low boiling point, plan to get the scissors out so you can cut this bag open and store the edibles in a child-proof container that is easier to open.

Flavor – Hated It.

The Sativa gummies are Mixed fruit flavor. I am not a fan of the artificial cherry flavor that is prominent. It reminds me of cherry cough drops or that awful tasting cherry flavor some dentists use to clean your teeth. The other fruit flavors are indistinct to me, a mix of generic citrus, possibly some artificial pineapple flavor, it’s hard to tell. The dominant flavor is the cherry, which I find unappealing. It lingers as an artificial aftertaste even when the gummy dissolves. It does cover up most of the cannabis oil flavor, but I would rather taste the oil than the flavors used in this gummy.

Besides artificial flavors, these gummies contain artificial colors, carnuaba wax, and gelatin. They are free from dairy, gluten and fat, but are not all natural or vegan.

Effects

I definitely felt “stoned” with these edibles, so the strength is there. I didn’t experience most of the usual effects I expect with Sativa edibles – uplifted mood, energy and creativity. I just felt high with no impact on mood, no extra energy and without feeling especially “up”.

I found the effects to be more of a Hybrid type effect than a pure Sativa effect. It was a somewhat dreamy, spacey high. Perfect for just hanging out with friends, watching a movie or taking a bath. I was able to relax and space out. I did not have couch lock or become non functional, so it was not a heavy Indica type effect. I would not want to have to concentrate on anything while using these, I found them too spacey for that. They could be good for creative activities where you just let your mind wander. I’m not sure I would want to cook something where I had to follow a recipe as I felt too spacey for that.

I did have heightened senses and strong food cravings, aka the munchies. Food tasted great and was extra enjoyable to eat. These gummies would be great for anyone who is trying to boost their appetite. Beyond that and the stoned feeling, I did not experience much of any other effects even after repeated tests.

Conclusion

There are so many cannabis infused edible gummies on the market that taste better and provide effects I find more desirable, that these won’t make my regular rotation. If you are not put off by an artificial cherry/generic fruit taste and you are looking for a straight up stoned feeling, these gummies may be great for you.

I like the Cheeba Chews brand and like their original product line. I also do like very much that they make these Green Hornet THC gummies with specific Sativa, Indica, Hybrid types. The flavor and the effects are not a good match for me, but if the taste and effects sound good to you, consider giving them a try as they certainly have an impact.

Kanha Cannabis Infused Sativa Cherry Gummies Review

Kanha cannabis infused Sativa THC gummies contain the usual 10mg dose of THC per gummy. There are 10 pieces for a package total of 100mg THC.

Kanha gummies are made with gelatin, so they are not vegetarian or vegan friendly. They are gluten-free and contain no food allergens like dairy, nuts or soy. Each piece has 23 calories so the whole bag sets you back 230 calories.

Taste & Effects

The smell from the package is a generic cherry smell. Each gummy is covered in a fine sugar coating that provides an initial sweet taste. Once that disappears, there is an artificial cherry taste, mixed with a slight cannabis oil taste. Like other Kanha gummies I’ve tried, they are artificial tasting but perfectly edible. I don’t like cherry flavor to begin with, and I don’t like artificial flavors, but these have a soft enough flavor that they taste like other cherry gummy candies.

Kanha Cannabis Infused Sativa Cherry Gummies, package of 100mg THC
Kanha Cannabis Infused Sativa Cherry Gummies

Kanha gummies are robust, taking a good five minutes to dissolve in the mouth. As with all new edibles, I took half of my usual dose the first time to judge how strong they are. My usual dose is 10mg of THC, so I started with one half of a gummy, with 5mg THC. I took it first one evening at home. I didn’t feel much of an effect, even after 2 1/2 hours. I tried again the next day at the full 10 mg dose. I could feel a slight uplift effect, But I did not experience the energy boost, creative charge or the focus I experience with other sativa edibles.

Kanha Cannabis Infused Sativa Cherry Gummies

I usually find 10mg of THC is a good dose for me, but for many folks 5mg gives them the effects they want. I tried these again several times at my usual dose and just didn’t get the effects that I wanted. It may be the strain or the hybrid that went into making the cannabis oil or this could’ve just been a mild batch. Either way these are great for people who are sensitive to THC or who get the effects they want from a lower dose.

Always start low and go slow with edibles and judge the impact for yourself, as we all react a little differently.

Wrap Up

I love it when edibles are labeled as Sativa or Indica to give folks a better idea of the effects to expect. Kanha Sativa THC Cherry gummies are a good choice. While I find the flavor just okay, some folks love cherry. Overall a good choice if you are looking for mild effects in a Sativa THC gummy edible.

Now available in California, Massachusetts, Nevada, and Illinois.

Mary’s Medicinals Transdermal Compound 1:1

Mary’s Medicinal Transdermal Compound has a 100mg blend of CBD, CBC and THC.

I went on a mountain drive with my husband at ended up in Silverthorne, a real ski town. Thinking that skiers have a lot of aches and pains, I thought this would be a perfect place to find effective CBD topicals. I stopped at High Country Healing and asked for suggestions on topical creams with CBD. Both of the friendly budtenders recommended Mary’s Medicinals. Although it was expensive, I bought it.

MARYS COMPOUNDThe container holds 28 grams of topical cream. It’s made with mango butter and beeswax making the compound more of a solid than a lotion. It doesn’t have a scent.

I have Dupuytren’s contracture – an arthritis – in both hands. In this situation, I am looking for pain relief, not to get high. Even though there is THC in the Compound, it won’t get you buzzed at all. I applied the product and massaged in the oils directly where I was feeling pain. After a half an hour, my hand was very soft and the Compound oils disappeared.

After 15 minutes, the palms of my hand were slightly tingly. After 30 minutes, I was almost pain free. Before I put on Mary’s Medicinals Transdermal Compound my pain level in my hand was at a 3-4, after an hour my pain level barely registered at a 1. It was enormously helpful in comparison to Motrin/Aleve. The pain relief lasted for almost three hours.

Mary’s Medicinals Transdermal Compound worked for me. I highly recommend it for anyone that is looking at CBD topicals. Although it is a little expensive at $50.00 per container in Colorado, a little goes a long way!

Doozies by Green Revolution Sativa Cannabis Gummies Review

Green Revolution’s line of Doozies edibles are cannabis gummies that come in nineteen different flavor and active ingredient combinations. The line comes in four different effect categories – fly, elevate, chill, and relief. For this review we chose on of the Fly products – the Goldenberry with Sativa Live Resin.

Each gummy has 10mg of THC and 0mg of CBD per serving, for a total of 100mg THC and 0mg of CBD per package.

These gummies are vegan friendly, gluten free, and kosher. They do not contain artificial coloring or flavoring, made with real fruit juice. They are dairy free, but they do contain coconut, so they are not nut free. No high fructose corn syrup, no soy and all natural.

The gummies are individually wrapped so they don’t stick together and travel well, though we don’t love extra packaging. These edibles are an unusual shape as you can see on the picture – an uneven cloud shape. Very cute but not easy to cut in half for a 5mg dose or in quarters for a 2.5mg dose. It isn’t too hard to cut them into thirds, but you would need a scale to properly divide one evenly. They are soft but not squishy and they are covered in sugar.

Dosing & Flavor

The smell from the individual bag is primarily a strong sour fruit and berry smell, as you would expect from a Goldenberry flavor. Unlike the Kiva Camino gummies which are smooth and see-through, these have a more of a fruit chew appearance and a sugar-covered texture. They are easy to bite through and melt in the mouth after a while in the same way as most gummies.

The flavors are somewhat sugar-forward since the outside of the gummies are coated with a sugary substance. They do have fruit flavor ingredients (pear juice and natural goldenberry flavor) so the taste is more of a natural fruit than an artificial and candy-type flavor. Primarily it is a nicely sour berry and fruit flavor, without any bad aftertaste or strong THC flavor. The citric acid gives these a suggestion of sourness and the fruit flavors suggest fruit. You wouldn’t think you are biting into a real berry but there isn’t the strong fake flavor found in other candies

As we always recommend with new edibles, try half of your usual dose before trying a full dose as you never know how strong something will effect you. The gummies are easy to cut or bite in half to give a 5mg dose of THC, then to split again for a 2.5mg dose. With all new to you edibles it’s important to try a partial dose first to see how you react.

Since I am experienced with edibles and my usual dose is 10mg of THC, I began with half of a half of one piece, with 5mg THC. After having only light effects for that trial run, I then moved closer to my usual dose on another day, taking one whole gummy for a total dose of 10mg THC. I sometimes use one and a one eighth pieces for a 12.5mg dose of THC when I want a stronger effect, or if I have recently eaten or if I’ve taken CBD, which can tamp down the effects.

Effects

Doozies use a blend of terpenes and cannbinoids for specific effects – their Sativa products are labeled “fly” for being uplifting. We are not sure how they differ from their “Elevate” product but will test them. According to their website, they employ “UNET technology for a faster, more consistent onset of effects than traditional edibles”.

The effects we experienced were closely aligned with the effects we’ve enjoyed with similar sativa gummies. Alertness and energy, along with a bit of heightened senses. The impacts were on the mild side for me, so after experimenting at low doses, we ended up trying a stronger dose to get our desired impact. As always, go slow and wait to judge the impacts at least an hour.

Enjoyable real fruit flavor profiles and mild but specific effects are what we experienced from Green Revolution’s Doozies gummies. They also make other edibles including pill-like tabs and drinks, as well as other cannabis products.

As of 2024, available only at retailers in California and Washington state

Hot Sugar! Fruit Drops Sativa Gummies Review

Hot Sugar!’s line of Fruit Drops edibles are cannabis gummies that come in five different flavor combinations. The line comes in five flavors of gummies, Blue Raspberry, Watermelon, Strawberry Kiwi, Peach Mango, and Green Apple. For this review we chose the Green Apple with Sativa Live Resin.

Each gummy has 10mg of THC and 0mg of CBD per serving, for a total of 100mg THC and 0mg of CBD per package.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is hot-sugar-fruit-drops-green-apple.jpg

These gummies do not list any animal products, so they are vegan friendly. They do contain artificial coloring and flavoring. They are gluten free, dairy free, and nut free. The gummies are individually wrapped and are easy to cut in half for a 5mg dose or in quarters for a 2.5mg dose. They are square, soft but not squishy and they are covered in sugar.

Dosing & Flavor

The smell from the individual bag is primarily a strong sour fruit smell, as you would expect from a Green Apple flavor. Unlike the Kiva Camino gummies which are smooth and see-through, these have a more of a fruit chew appearance and a sugar-covered texture. They are easy to bite through and melt in the mouth in the same way as most gummies.

The flavors are somewhat sugar-forward since the outside of the gummies are coated with a sugary substance. They do have fruit flavor ingredients (apple puree) but they are more of the artificial and candy-type flavor. For the green apple, mostly it is a nicely sour citrus and fruit flavor, without any bad aftertaste or strong THC flavor. The citric acid gives these a suggestion of sourness and the fruit flavors suggest fruit – or a jolly rancher type hard candy flavor. Be clear, you wouldn’t think you are biting into a real apple or berry or slice of watermelon, they are more candy-flavors, although they do use some natural flavoring.

As we always recommend with new edibles, try half of your usual dose before trying a full dose as you never know how strong something will effect you. The gummies are easy to cut or bite in half to give a 5mg dose of THC, then to split again for a 2.5mg dose. Effects

The effects I experienced were closely aligned with the effects I’ve enjoyed with similar sativa gummies. Alertness and energy with the Sativa-dominant strains, along with a bit of heightened senses. I love the Sativa for interacting with nature whether it’s gardening, “forest bathing” or a walk on the beach. As someone who enjoys photography, those are great for staying alert to great images without feeling over-hyped.

Enjoyable but artificial flavor profiles and specific effects are what you can expect from Hot Sugar! Fruit Drops. They also make flavored THC-infused sugar, Fruit Chews, Caramel Bites, Chocolate Bites and other edibles

Kiva Camino Uplifting, Chill & Sleep Cannabis Gummies Review

Kiva is well known for their cannabis infused chocolate bars and Terra bites chocolate covered blueberries and espresso beans. Their Camino range of edibles brings the quality of Kiva to cannabis gummies. These gummies are not just infused with distilled THC but are formulated with natural terpenes to create specific effects.

Camino cannabis gummies come in various formulas, each with a different flavor. The Uplifting formula is a Pineapple Habanero flavor, the Chill formula is a Wild Berry flavor, and the Sleep is a Blueberry flavor. Uplifting, Sleep and Chill each contain 100mg THC per package, with each serving containing 5mg of THC.

Kiva Camino Cannabis Infused GummiesHero Marquee

My local dispensary charges $22 for these, making it $2.20 for each 10mg serving of THC, the same price point as the Kiva Cannabis Chocolate bars with 100mg of THC. These gummies do contain gelatin, so they are not vegetarian or vegan friendly.

Dosing & Flavor

Being someone who prefers the effects of energy-stimulating Sativa and who enjoys spicy food, I was very happy to see the Pineapple Habanero flavor of the Uplifting formula gummies. The tin is one you push down to turn and open.

The smell from the tin is a wonderful natural pineapple smell. Some edibles smell artificial or smell like a bag of weed with some flavoring added. These smell just like pineapple. They have a lovely opaque appearance and a soft texture that is easy to bite through.

As we always recommend with new edibles, try half of your usual dose before trying a full dose as you never know how strong something will effect you. You can always have more but you can’t have less once you’ve eaten it. For those new to edibles, a good rule is to always start first with a very low does, like 2.5mg of THC, then wait two hours to gauge the effects before having a little more. The Camino edibles are easy to bite in half to give a 2.5mg dose. Since I am experienced with edibles and my usual dose is 10mg, I began with 5mg. After having only light effects for that trial run, I then moved to my usual 10mg dose.

I love the taste of the Uplifting gummies. I am usually not a fan of pineapple as too many products use an artificial flavor of pineapple I find unpleasant. The Uplifting Camino gummies have a wonderfully mild, natural pineapple taste. I found it difficult to find any cannabis oil taste. It starts with the sweet and sour fruit taste, then comes the heat from the habanero. I found the heat very mild yet not so mild it is unnoticeable. If you are very sensitive to spicy pepper flavors, just try to little to gauge your comfort. I love the heat level and that it lingers in the mouth for a bit after the gummy has dissolved. Delicious, one of the few edibles that I would buy for the flavor even if there was no THC involved.

Tip: If you find the taste too spicy, have some of your favorite milk at hand – coconut, soy, almond or dairy will do. Milk can help coat the tongue and can help put out the fire from the spiciness. Nut butters, like peanut butter or almond butter also can help tame the flames. Rice, pasta or bread can also help reduce the burn. Water doesn’t help hardly at all, a sugary drink will help more to reduce the spicy feeling.

For the Bliss, the flavor is a natural lemonade with fruit flavors and has the same smooth texture and soft mouth feel as the other Camino gummies. Read the full review here.

The Chill’s Berry taste is great also, if a somewhat non-specific berry flavor, as is the Blueberry. The taste is not artificial, it’s mild and maintains its good flavor through the aftertaste.

Effects

Uplifting: The effects I experienced were of the uplifting kind – feeling a boost to creativity, a bit of an energy boost and an uplifted mood. I do find the effects more mild than I might like, so I do sometimes boost the effect either with a low dose edible like these 2.5mg/dose gummies or Mary’s Medicinals transdermal pen.

Bliss: The effects for me were not very strong, a mild body high and slightly stoned head. As a budtender told me, they can follow your mood or your activity, as they are able to go both a relaxing and a more uplifting way, depending on the person.

Chill: Just as it implies, the effects of chill are relaxing and anxiety reducing. A budtender told me they are her favorite go-to when they are ready to chill. I am sensitive to strong Indica-type effects as they easily lead me to couch lock or sleep. I found Chill to be relaxing but functional with some mild couch pull and a nice stress relieving impact. Next to the Uplifting, the Chill is my second favorite in term of effect. Perfect for a weekend afternoon or to relax after a busy day.

Enjoyable flavor profiles and type-specific effects are exactly what I look for in an edible and Kiva’s Camino gummies do a great job on both counts.
