Korova Cannabis Infused Ginger Chew Mini Cookies Review

Korova makes ten flavors of mini cookies, including the Ginger Chew flavor I tried. I prefer edibles that either indicate the type of cannabis used (Indica, Sativa or Hybrid) or that indicate the strain name (Sour Diesel, OG Kush, Romulan, etc.). Unfortunately Korova does not indicate either of these on their packaging or their website. This means you take a gamble on the effects you might experience. Most of the cookies simply say “Made with Hybrid Cannabis”. A good reason to start low and go slow, as with all THC edibles.

Korova Ginger Chew Mini Cookies

Most of the cookie flavors come in 100mg packages with 10mg of THC per cookie. Korova  has two a Vanilla Bean flavored mini cookies with CBD. There is a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio, with each cookie having 10mg THC & CBD and a high-CBD mini cookie that has 15mg of CBD per cookie.

Packaging is easy to read and fairly easy to open, with a child proof mechanism similar to how many of the dispensary exit bags used to work, using a thumb to grab one side while pulling open the other side. The closure is sturdy and easy to re-close. The cookies are loose inside, not individually packaged.

Korova Ginger Chew Mini Cookies package backKorova is right up front about its ingredients – literally. Right on the front they list all 12 ingredients. All of the ingredients are ones you have heard of, with no hard-to-pronounce chemicals, artificial colors or flavors. I also like how the package back comes with the reminder that with edibles you can always eat more but you can never eat less.

Taste

The cookies look, smell and taste great, like a good quality crunchy cookie. For the Ginger Chews, there is a tiny bit of chew but it is mostly a crumbly butter cookie. They have a very nice ginger cookie taste with ginger, brown sugar and butter the predominant flavors. I hardly was able to taste the cannabis, which for folks who don’t like that taste is a big positive. Even the aftertaste was butter cookie, not THC.

I can see why people are fans of Korova, since they produce a good tasting product and keep the ingredients simple.

Effects

Within 30 minutes I started to feel the effects of a mild buzz. It remained on the mild side. It was hard for me to tell from the effects if this was an Indica or Sativa. I felt a little relaxed but not a lot. I did not feel the uplift, energy or focus I normally get from a Sativa edible. These seem to be a balanced mild hybrid with a slight cerebral high and a mild relaxing body high. I tried these several times in the afternoon and they did not give me a strong head high or any significant body effect, just a slight stoned feeling.

If you are sensitive to THC, if you are new to edibles or just prefer a mild effect, these could be a good product for you in terms of effects. I prefer my effects to be more noticeable, to give me a decent strength either in the direction of energy and creativity or in the direction of relaxation or pain relief. I did not find any strong effects with these at my usual dose. These could be perfect for folks who get strong effects from a dose smaller than 10mg or who are looking for a mild buzz.

Great tasting edible using real ingredients with a mild hybrid effect.

Kaneh Co Cannabis Chocolate Paleo Bites Review

Kaneh Co’s cannabis-infused chocolate paleo bites are vegan, gluten-free, “Paleo friendly” and have no refined sugar. As one of the few lower-carb vegan options, they are a welcome addition to the cannabis edibles world for folks who are eating in a more paleo- or keto-friendly way. They do contain tree nuts and soy, so be aware if you have allergies.

Kaneh Co Bites come in both the chocolate paleo and a superfood granola flavor, which is also vegan and gluten free. Both have 10mg of THC per bite and each bag contains 10 bites, for a total of 100mg THC per package.

My local dispensaries charges around $20 for a package, making it $2.00 for each 10mg serving of THC. The bag is a standard two-handed pull apart resealable pouch. The bites are not individually wrapped and they get hard and a little stale if not properly resealed and kept refrigerated, so be sure to store them properly to keep them their freshest.

Dosing & Flavor

The smell from the bag is a chocolatey cookie smell. They look like little brownies with some chips and coconut on top. They have a medium texture that is more crunchy than soft to bite through. The flavor is a chocolatey-nutty flavor that doesn’t have any bad aftertaste or strong cannabis oil taste. They taste of natural ingredients with no artificial flavor taste.

As we always recommend with new edibles, try half of your usual dose before trying a full dose as you never know how strong something will effect you. The Kaneh Co chocolate paleo bites are easy to cut in half to give a 5mg THC dose. Even being experienced with edibles and with a usual dose of 10mg of THC, I always began with a 5mg THC dose since you never know how your body will react with new cannabis edibles. After having only light effects for that trial run, I then moved to my usual dose of a full bite with 10mg.

These edibles are not labeled as Sativa or Indica, so I wasn’t sure what type of effects to expect. As with many edibles, I’d love Kaneh Co to come out with Sativa or Indica type-specific or even strain-specific edibles and I know the challenges that can come with doing that.

Effects

The effects I experienced were what I would expect from a mix of hybrid cannabis strains, part mental and part physical. I found these bites provided a mild physical relaxation without too much of a “stoned” feeling or the lethargic “couch-lock” that some Indica’s can create. It is also not an energetic or caffeinated effect as some Sativa strains can provide. I did find them mentally stimulating and created an elevated mood, which combined well with the relaxed physical impacts to help me get some things done around the house without being too spaced out to accomplish anything.

For me, these are perfect for the afternoon when you want to relax but still may have things you want to get done. They definitely have a good strength level, so I wouldn’t want to do anything complex or important, I would feel too impaired to really be professional or get any high quality work done. That said, I did find the effects supported creativity, so I could see doing creative work on these edibles, as long as a relaxed pace was appropriate – I wouldn’t blow glass on these, for example.

An excellent choice if you’re looking for natural ingredients, a vegan, gluten free, or paleo- and keto-friendly cannabis edible. These nutty chocolate bites satisfy the sweet tooth without adding extra sugar and create a balanced effect. A relaxed, creative elevation experience in a healthy package.

Kanha NANO Cannabis Infused Sativa Gummies Review

Kanha NANO are “enhanced nanomolecular gummies”, meaning they are more fast-acting than edibles that don’t use the technology. The cannabis infused Cran-Pomegrante Punch flavor Sativa THC gummies each contain 5mg dose of THC per gummy. There are 20 pieces for a package total of 100mg THC.

Kanha gummies are made with gelatin, so they are not vegetarian or vegan friendly. They are gluten-free and contain no food allergens like dairy, nuts or soy. Each piece has 23 calories so the whole bag sets you back only 230 calories. The Nano line of gummies also comes in an Indica formula with a Passionfruit flavor, or a Hybrid formula with Key Lime flavor. This review is for the Sativa formula only.

Kanha Nano Cannabis Infused Sativa Cran-Pomegrante Punch Gummies

Taste & Effects

The Sativa product of this line of gummies is labeled as a “Cran-Pomegrante Punch” flavor. The smell from the package is a generic cranberry/cherry smell. Each gummy is covered in a fine sugar coating that provides an initial sweet taste. Once that disappears, there is an artificial cherry taste, mixed with cranberry-like flavor, citric acid tartness and a slight cannabis oil taste.

Like other Kanha gummies I’ve tried – such as Kahna’s Sativa Cherry gummies – they are artificial tasting, even thought they contain only natural flavoring. Maybe its the way their natural cherry flavoring is processed, but it tastes artificial to me. It reminds me of that awful cherry flavor they sometimes use that the dentist to polish your teeth.

So while they are not my preferred flavor profile, it’s just a personal preference and the gummies are perfectly edible. I don’t like cherry flavor to begin with, and I don’t like artificial flavors, but these have a soft enough flavor that they taste pretty similar to other cherry gummy candies. Kanha gummies are robust, taking a good five minutes to dissolve in the mouth if you don’t chew them up.

As with all new edibles, I took half of my usual dose the first time to judge how strong they are. The Nano gummies come in packages with twenty(20) 5mg pieces. My usual dose is 10mg of THC, so I started with one gummy of 5mg THC. I took it first one afternoon at home. I didn’t feel much of an effect, even after 2 1/2 hours. I tried again the next morning at the full 10 mg dose.

I did experience a quicker onset of the experience, with effects beginning to be noticeable within 30 minutes and growing to a full effect by the end of the first hour. It began with a slight uplift effect, plus what I can best describe as a “caffeinated” edge. This is not the energy-boost and focus-boost type of effect that I associate with some Sativa products, but more of a sharp-edged stimulation. I did not experience the creative charge, noticeable increase in senses or energy I experience with other sativa edibles. This was a little bit like I was slightly on edge from too much caffeine and very focused. It was a clear-headed effect, I didn’t feel dazed or “stoned” and was able to get some work done around the house.

Kanha Nano product range

I usually find 10mg of THC is a good dose for me, but for many folks 5mg gives them the effects they want. I tried these again several times at my usual 10mg dose and just didn’t get the strength of effects that I wanted. It may be the strain or the hybrid that went into making the cannabis oil or this could’ve just been a mild batch. I ended up cutting one in half so I could increase the dose to closer to12.5mg. That helped, so if you are tolerant of THC and experienced with edibles, you may find after testing that a but more than your usual dose may be needed to get the effects you want.

With what I experienced as a mild effect, these are great for people who are sensitive to THC or who get the effects they want from a lower dose. Always start low and go slow with edibles and judge the impact for yourself, as we all react differently to different cannabis edibles.

Wrap Up

I love it when edibles are labeled as Sativa or Indica to give folks a better idea of the effects to expect. Kanha NANO Sativa THC Cran-Pomegrante gummies are a good choice. While I find the flavor just okay, some folks love cranberry-cherry flavor and it didn’t put me off of using them, it is not my preferred taste. Overall a good choice if you are looking for mild effects in a Sativa THC gummy edible with quicker onset of effects.

Transdermal CBD Gel Trampled My Pain

A good friend was sharing her positive experiences with transdermal patches, and she whipped out the Mary’s Medicinals transdermal gel pens that she uses to boost the effects of the patches. The lotion-like gel is what gave me my initial first-hand experience with a transdermal CBD application.

Besides the pens, Mary’s Medicinals also makes transdermal patches in several formulas – THC Sativa, THC Indica, CBD, and more. Mary’s makes transdermal gel pens in similar formulas. Each pen dispenses a measured amount of medicated gel, that is similar in consistency to a skin lotion.

Mary's Medicinals Transdermal Gel Pens

I was experiencing severe pain in my left wrist, unable to support any weight with it in several different positions.  Traditional pain relievers (advil, aspirin, tylenol) didn’t make much of a dent in the pain. I tried ingesting THC and CBD tinctures which provided some general relief but didn’t target the pain. It had gone on for weeks and I was about to make an appointment with my doctor to see if it was arthritis or something more serious.

My friend suggested I try the transdermal lotion. I rubbed a nickel-sized portion of the CDB lotion on my wrist and within an hour the pain was completely gone. I have had no sign of the pain since then and it has been over 6 months. From that point on, I have been an advocate for transdermal CBD application. Whether as a topical gel or in transdermal patches, it works especially well for pain that is specific to one area.

My pain was likely from inflammation, which CBD can be great at reducing. I have also used the CBD gel rubbed on my temples to reduce headache pain or on the back of my neck at the base of the skull when I feel tension built up there. The great thing about the pen is that it dispenses small portions so it easier to control how much you use.

For general aches and pains, edibles and tinctures are fantastic. For pain in specific areas, transdermal gels and patches provide more targeted relief.

Natural Cannabis Company THC Suckers Review

The Natural Cannabis Company has their own brand of THC suckers in a variety of flavors. Each sucker contains 10mg of THC and less than .1mg of CBD. These products are free of all animal products, so they are cruelty free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. They are dairy-free and gluten-free with each sucker coming in at 35 calories.

I prefer THC edibles that are type specific (Indica, Sativa, Hybrid) or better yet, ones that are made with single strain, like Gorilla Glue 4, Blue Dream, Jack Herer or Grand Daddy Purple. These sucker’s packaging gives no indication of the type or strain. As a consumer, it makes it difficult to know what effects I can expect from this product. Will it give me energy and boost creativity? Will it give me a spacey, dreamy effect? I did ask the budtender about these and I was told that it is a Indica dominant hybrid mix

Flavors & Dosing

These suckers come in a variety of flavors. This review includes both the the sour green apple and watermelon flavors. Each sucker is a 10mg dose and they sell for $5 in 2019.

Natural Cannabis Company Watermelon THC Sucker package with sucker laying on top of the package

As soon as you unwrap these suckers, a strong sweet smell rises from the package. The watermelon is especially fragrant. They have that classic “Jolly Rancher” hard candy watermelon flavor, with a little taste of vanilla thrown in. The ingredient list includes no flavor but vanilla, so I’m not sure where the flavor comes from. They don’t even list citric acid or any extract other than vanilla. Maybe they infuse the soybean oil or the corn syrup or the thc with the flavor. There is almost no thc taste, just a hint of it, if anything. The flavoring does a great job of masking any unpleasant taste. These taste very good and lasts a good long time if you don’t crunch it.

As you see from the image, the sucker cracked after being sucked on for a minute or so. Since this is a hard candy, it can be difficult to cut it into pieces or control your dose if you want less than 10mg of THC. The cracks actually helped break it up, as I always only try half of any new edible to judge the effects. Especially with an Indica dominant hybrid, since I am sensitive to the relaxing, stoned and sleepy effects you get from many strains of Indicas. Always start low and go slow with thc edibles.

Effects

These are nicely potent edibles. I found the effects very noticeable but not overwhelming. The experience was one of an Indica – dominant Hybrid effect.

Head effect was definitely a bit cloudy and dreamy. Not stoned or stupid, but not sharp at all. It was not energetic or focused, more like a floaty head. Concentrating was not as easy as letting the mind wander. I would not want to do intricate work requiring focus on these, but something creative and mellow would suit these well.

Body effects were a good relaxed feeling. A tiny bit of sleepiness was there but nothing overpowering. It also would not put up a fight if the urge to zone out on the couch was felt. I didn’t experience any pain relief for muscle aches as I sometimes do if there is CBD present with the THC. I wasn’t expecting any pain relief, but it is sometimes a bonus depending on the cannabis strain(s) used.

Result

This is a very tasty THC sucker with no bad aftertaste. Tastes just like traditional lollipops but with a serious flavor boost. Effects are a mellow, dreamy, relaxed feeling. Great for unwinding at the end of the day, to help combat anxiety or stress, to help with getting to sleep, or just zoning out and decompressing.

Natural Cannabis Company products are only available in California in 2019.
