Treometry Golden Mylk Chocolate THC CBD Bar Review

Treometry’s Golden Mylk is a Tumeric Chai Cannabis White Chocolate Bar with Ashwaghanda Extract. While I was not familiar with Ashwaghanda before, this is now one of my favorite edibles to help go to sleep and stay asleep.

Golden Mylk front

Flavor

With several competing spices, this edible struggles to find a balance among all of the flavors. The equally strong spice tastes from the tumeric, chai spices, pepper, ginger, etc. can leave the tongue a bit confused. The white chocolate flavor is very mild providing a smooth, chocolaty flavor overall. There is a slight aftertaste which is likely from the cannabis oil or the Ashwaghanda extract being in alcohol. This is a vegan chocolate, so it is missing the traditional milky, creamy chai flavor, as nothing in it replaces that taste or texture. The taste is very pleasant overall, creating a smooth spicy experience. It’s unusual to find a good tasting chocolate treat that is dairy-free, paleo friendly and gluten-free.

Dosage & Strain

The packaged portion is labeled as containing 10mg of THC and 10mg of CBD. It is scored into four squares that are easily broken into pieces of 2.5 mg for portion control – always a plus with an edible! It does not indicate if the THC is sativa, indica or some hybrid, which is a drawback. Since it does a great job promoting relaxation and sleep, it’s a good bet that it is an Indica or Indica-dominant hybrid strain.

Ashwaghanda – what is that?

According to Examine.com and its references to 300+ scientific papers:

“Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an herb used in Ayurveda medicine. Ashwagandha means ‘Smell of Horse,’ which refers to the fresh root’s distinct horsey smell, and the traditional belief that ingesting the herb will confer the strength and virility of a horse.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen. It is supplemented primarily for its ability to prevent anxiety. Ashwagandha’s anti-anxiety effect is even synergistic with alcohol. It also shows promise for relieving insomnia and stress-induced depression.”

Despite this description, I have never tasted or smelled anything even remotely like a “horsey” smell, because this edibles uses an extract not the fresh root. I have experienced and enjoyed the anti-anxiety, relaxing effect it provides.

Effects & Dosing

Given its anti-anxiety and insomnia relief properties, this edible is often suggested for use in helping with getting and staying asleep. Over repeated uses, I have found that it provides these effects consistently.

In my experiments I did as I always do with a new cannabis edible, I started with a small dose. I started with just one of the four pieces to gauge the effect. While it is considered a mild does at only 2.5mg THC & CBD, it did help with stress relief and relaxing. I have tried two pieces, which is half of the bar and contains 5mg THC & CBD. I experienced more pronounced anxiety relief and relaxation effects within the first forty minutes. By the end of the first hour I was nicely relaxed and ready for bed.

I have tried it several times and the effects are consistent using the 5mg dose. Either I sleep through the night or if I get up I am able to get back to sleep. I sometimes experienced a slight grogginess in the mornings, but it quickly dissipates. I went back to the 2.5mg dose for regular use, since the Ashwagandha seems to add enough extra kick to do the trick for me.

If you are just trying this for the first time, it’s likely best to only take one-fourth of the bar, wait at least one hour and preferably two hours before taking another quarter portion. As always, the effects will differ depending on other medications, your metabolism, how much you eat around the time you take it, etc.

Golden Mylk is on the short list of the products I like the best to help with relaxing, getting a good nights sleep and avoiding insomnia.

Atlas Origin Indica Cannabis Edibles Review

When my favorite friend in the whole, wide world gives me a cannabis edible to try, I get excited. We live far apart and use different dispensaries that carry very different products. His cannabis purchases are always diverse and the edibles are usually leaning towards the healthier and more gourmet end of the spectrum. I look forward to visiting my friend to catch up and to try his next goodie. It’s a wonderful, happy time.

Atlas Indica OriginThis time Alton shared Origin Mexican Chocolate & Pepita clusters. These clusters come in eight servings, each 10mg doses per bag. When I first started eating the clusters all I could taste were the oats and seeds (pumpkin and hemp). Then, I focused on the hint of dark chocolate. There’s a vague cannabis taste. These clusters are flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg and chili. Sadly, I had flashbacks to the hard, dry, Nature Valley granola bars. That is not a compliment.

After 50 minutes the effects of Origin Mexican Chocolate Pepitas started. A relaxing, calm feeling took care of my frazzled nerves. It was a very heady high, there was a tingling, floating sensation. At the same time, it was a very low energy, sit-on-the -couch-and-space high. There were no munchies.

The buzz lasted a little over 2 hours. It was a consistent, strong, high that left me sitting in the same spot feeling awesome.

Atlas Origin WithClusterOnce you get over the dryness of the product, Origin Mexican Chocolate Pepitas provide a strong, body high that is relaxing and enjoyable. I’d definitely try these again and would recommend that you try them if you see them at your dispensary too!

Atlas Ember, Stratus & Nimbus Cannabis Edibles Review

Atlas edibles are a hybrid of a granola bar, a fruit/oat bar and a cookie. They come in Sativa, Indica and two different Hybrid formulations. Each bag contains 80mg of THC. There are four pieces in each bag, each piece contains 20mg of THC. They are colorfully packaged, interestingly flavored and cleverly named.

Products

The two hybrid products are Stratus and Nimbus. Stratus promotes mindfulness & playfulness. It is flavored with lemon caramel, wild blueberries, poppy seeds and a hint of ginger. Nimbus is the other Hybrid flavor, having the same effects as Status but flavored with dark chocolate, hazelnuts, pecans and currants.

The Indica edible, which promotes relaxation, is flavored with Mexican chocolate, warm spices and pepitas (pumpkin seeds) and is called Origin. Click here for our reviews of Origin.

Atlas Sativa Ember clusters
Ember edible

The Sativa edible is called Ember and it promotes functionality and creativity. It’s flavored with caramel, cayenne, toasted cashews and California apricots. If you are sensitive to spicy, don’t be put off because I love spicy and I hardly noticed any heat when I tried it, so it’s a mellow heat offset by the nuts and apricots. It is vegetarian and almost vegan (if your vegan eats honey) with the cannabis infused in coconut oil.

Ember has a pleasant oat bar/moist cookie taste with some crunch from the cashews and a nice fruity finish with the apricots. THC flavor was present but mild, as was the heat from the cayenne, which I hardly could notice. I should note that I like spicy food and have a tolerance for it, so you might notice the cayenne more than I did. Atlas describes it as promoting positivity, functionality and creativity.

The Nimbus Hybrid product suggests it will promote balance, mindfulness and playfulness. It has a pleasant dark chocolate smell with some of the THC coming through. The taste is the same oat-y, sweet nut and fruit flavor as the other Atlas products. The pecan and hazelnut flavors come in behind the chocolate, oat & honey taste. There is a definite cannabis taste but it is mild and quite well balanced with the other flavors, so the taste is neither medicinal nor absent.

Dosing

It was confusing for me that they called the pieces inside “clusters” a cluster can be a single square or the four squares stuck together could also be a cluster. From just reading the dosing information on the outside I could not tell what I would find inside. Once I opened the package I found four square pieces stuck together with a silicone bag stuck to the bottom of one of the squares.

I had to re-read the instructions and was still confused because the graphic shows one square cut in half, so did that mean half of the four squares stuck together should be cut in half to make what they called a “cluster”? I decided that since there were 80mg in the package, that must mean there were four pieces, each with 20mg, so I pulled apart the four squares.

Atlas Sativa Ember pkg clusters
Atlas Edibles’ Sativa Ember edible fresh from the package

For my usual test dose of 10mg I cut one of the squares in half. Cutting one of the squares in half required a sharp knife since they are dense and there are nuts inside. It cut cleanly in half. My usual 10 mg dose was just right for this product as I found it strong and potent.

Effects

Ember – I took a 10 mg dose of the Sativa edible on a half-empty stomach in the late morning with coffee and I could feel it within 45 minutes. Within an hour I had the full effect of energy and focus. I had so much energy I felt like I could scrub the driveway with a toothbrush if I had to! Luckily I only had usual weekend chores and some cooking to do, so it was perfect.

I had a strong munchie effect from this edible. Since it is strong it likely impacts the blood sugar in a strong way too, so be sure to have your favorite liquids and snacks around.

Nimbus – I took a 10mg dose with my breakfast coffee, pairing it with a piece of bacon to provide the fat that edibles need. I started to feel the effects in less than an hour. Like the Ember product, this one is also potent and delivers a pleasantly noticeable effect. I experienced a clear-headed high, with some energy from the sativa effects and a solid relaxing effect on the body. This wasn’t a foggy-headed or lethargic high that comes with some hybrids that are indica-dominant.

ZootDrops Cannabis Infused Concentrate – Lemon Flavored Indica Relaxation Blend “Kick Back” Review

I really enjoy Zoots edibles, they are easy to enjoy on the go, they have great flavors and they produce an amazing, uplifting high.

When I visited my local dispensary the budtender quickly showed me another Zoots item in their line of cannabis infused products, Zoots Premium Cannabis Infused Concentrates- Kick Back, lemon flavored in Indica.

ZootDrops

The Lemon Relaxation Blend ZootDrops are sugar free, vegan, gluten free and contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. They contain 100mg THC per bottle and include a child-resistant measuring cap.

The instructions say that one capful (1/2 teaspoon) is a 5 mg dose of THC. You can mix Zoots concentrates with tea, lemonade, soda or put it directly under your tongue.

The Indica Concentrate looks like cloudy lemon juice. The cap is similar to the top of a Visine bottle. Very easy to measure dosing. (Rinse off the cap after pouring, I think it would get very sticky.)

I tried it straight, no mixer to get a taste of the product by itself. It had the distinct taste of bottled lemon juice with a strong medicinal flavor. I mixed it in lemonade and was unable to detect any medicinal taste.

Zoots is very potent, so I took a smaller than regular dose. Normally I use between 40-50 mg of THC. I only used 30mg with Zoots Cannabis Infused Kick Back Concentrate and was highly buzzed very consistently.

ZootDrops Relaxation Kick Back

It can take up to two hours to feel the effects of their concentrates. So be patient. Don’t up your dose because you don’t think it’s working. So, plan accordingly time-wise.

After 70 minutes, I began to have a light buzz. Then my head got dizzy in the most enjoyable way. Even though this is Indica, I didn’t feel lethargic. Like the Zoots nuggets, this was a very up, happy high.

I was slightly sedated and my anxiety was lessened. Stress seemed to disappear. “This is great stuff!”, I kept saying.

The high lasted 2 hours. There weren’t any munchies from this concentrate. When I tried this Concentrate again, I felt the same euphoric buzz. It was calming and uplifting at the same time. The second time I tried ZootDrops the high lasted a little over 2 hours.

Zoots Premium Cannabis Infused Concentrate is really convenient, just mix with your favorite drink. I recommend Kick Back from Zoots. The high is euphoric and consistent. The dosing is simple and I have never had a better glass of lemonade!

Zoots edibles are available at licensed marijuana retailers in Illinois, Washington, Colorado and Massachusetts.

Love’s Oven Cannabis Baklava Cookie Bar Bites Review

Recently tried Love’s Oven Baked Baklava Cookie Bar Bite – Sativa. In a world of gummies, cookies and suckers, I love how the cannabis edibles industry is constantly finding new recipes to try more diverse flavors and products. Cannabis Infused baklava is a rarity and a welcomed addition.

buddyboy-baklava-cookie-bar-bites-container.jpgEach 10mg piece is individually wrapped. The dose is approximately 1/2 inch square. It was really exciting to taste a new kind of edible. The baklava was delicious! The textures and flavors were spot on. The spices, the nuts and the layer of philo dough have this edible a multifaceted flavor palate.

In an hour and fifteen minutes I started feeling the effects of a heady, warm fuzzy high. My attitude turned to the positive. The Sativa was energizing and I was moving around, actively doing small chores.

The Baked Baklava Cookie Bar Bites definitely gave me the munchies. Be forewarned! Have healthy snacks aplenty!

After about an hour and a half the buzz started to fade away. Slowly.

I have retested these edibles a couple of more times, because I really enjoy them and wanted to ensure that the strong high provided is consistent. And it was. A great euphoric buzz with the energy of a great Sativa mix. This product has a high standard of ingredients and cannabis processing.

Try it. Be patient for the buzz to take effect. The positive high is exactly what your looking for to make a day a little more wonderful.

I love edibles that are made from Sativa dominant strains and that carry those classic Sativa uplifting, creative, energizing, social effects. Add that to the whole baklava flavor profile and ingredients your grandmother would use, it sounds like a winner.

BuddyBoy Baklava Cookie Bar Bites GroupThe ingredient list is: Flour, Mixed Nuts, Colorado Beet Sugar, Cannabutter, Eggs, Phyllo Dough, Pure Vanilla Extract, Honey, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon & Lemon Juice. I love that they don’t use cane sugar but local sugar. I appreciate the absence of artificial anything even more. I love that they have both a Sativa and an Indica type.

Taste & Effects

The taste starts with the butter and honey flavors, then the nuttiness and spices come through, finishing with a sweet nutty caramel-like flavor that lingers on the tongue.

I also experienced more of a delay of the effects. I was feeling something after the first hour, but it took a full 90 minutes before I felt almost full effects. If I had been impatient and taken more, it would have been too much. Expect these to take a little longer than normal to come to full strength – your patience will be rewarded.

I found my usual dose of 10mg was just the right amount for a strong effect. I could see enjoying a 5mg dose at a time I’d like the same type of effects but not as strong, like going to a party or an evening with friends.

Effects were as expected. I had the energy, uplift and focus I look for in a Sativa edible. An unexpected benefit was also an uplift in mood, a pleasant happy feeling. I was functional enough to go to the hardware store. Like Ruth, I found this gave me some powerful munchies, thanks to the heightened sense of taste. Eating did impact the high, as I would expect, bringing it down a bit. So know that if you’ve had too much, eating can help take off the edge.

Nice and strong, great effects and delicious. What’s not to like? I’ll leave your mouth to water as I end with this sentence from the Love’s Oven website:
“Rich and gooey baklava layered on a sweet cookie crust.”

Taste: Our scale is 1-10, and these are awesome, so 11?

Suck It 10mg THC Sour Apple Cannabis Sweets Review

Canyon Cultivation makes various forms of cannabis produts – SuckIt hard candies, ChewIt gummies, LickIt Lollipops, DropIt liquid THC, PopIt capsules and DrinkIt cannabis coffee. Several of the lines have a variety of flavors. All of the products are non-GMO, gluten free and use all-natural ingredients. Many of them are Vegan as well, including the SuckIt hard candies I tried.

Sour Apple Flavor Suckit Candies from Canyon

I greatly prefer edibles and other cannabis products that are strain-specific and labeled with which strain was used to make the edible. From reviewing the Canyon website, I don’t see any indication of the stain used in any of the products. I am much more hesitant to try a product when I don’t know what effects to expect.

Flavor

I tried the Sour Apple flavor of the SuckIt hard candies. The taste is quite strong, in a supercharged Jolly Rancher sort of way. The strong flavoring helped mask most of the THC taste, but there still is a medicine- like flavor that is unpleasant and a THC aftertaste.

Effects

I tried these several times and for me they had a decent hybrid effect, if one that was more uplifting like sativa. The effects were uplifting but not really energizing. I had a clear head and generally good focus with a little of the dreamy/spacey head effects that some strains create. I was functional without being over-hyped. There was a mild body relaxing effect without the couch-lock or sleepiness that comes with some Indica dominant strains.

This makes good sense as a late afternoon or after work edible, if you are looking for a mild physical relaxation with a clear head and an uplifted feeling. I prefer something more energizing in the morning or early afternoon, so these are great if I am done for the day and plan to stay at home.

It is a shame that the product is way over packaged, with ten small candies only taking up about 1/6th of the large container. I know that Colorado requires the use of standard packages that meet child safety requirements, so Canyon may just be following the regulations. Its always good to see no more packaging than a product requires so I’m hopeful that the packaging can be reduced in the future.

Overall I found SuckIt hard candies to be a not so tasty yet effective edible with a mild uplifting effect.
